I like mine, but I don't love it. Minor problems tend to have a hard fix. I've been having trouble with the window motors (a problem I think may be a Ford problem and not just my car, the same thing happened in my Explorer) and the fix is difficult and expensive. After 3 Fords, I won't buy another. Everyone else in my family has Hondas, which get the same gas milage as my Focus (which, admittedly is great). But Honda is so helpful with those cars and Ford doesn't care.

I have leased a 2000 focus, and I a currently a owner of a 2003 focus. I live in Michigan
For the money, it's a good car. I have never had any problems with it, and I have never gotten stuck in the snow either.
They only thing I have noticed is (and this was on both focuses) was the brake pads in the front, give off alot of powder. If you look at a persons focus, notice the front tires/rims. The rims will be black because of the powder. And that powder can eat into the aluminum rims.
Other than that.......great car.

I have an 03 focus and have had no problems with it other than the normal wear of any car. the only thing I have done is put new tires on change the oil and air filter regularly and it runs great. I have driven it on several trips that were over 400 miles. Wife drives it to class everyday she likes it too.

I have had my 02 focus for a while now, and i love it! the only thing i might warn you of is on stick shift focuses, there is a slight vibration in the clutch when your in first gear. i thought it was only my car but my buddies focus has the same problem. other than that i highly recomend the focus.

It is what it is asfar a a cheap car it's great mine has only had one problem (trans range sensor), gets great gas milage.
I would buy another one.
Mine is primarily a winter car though so I don't expect great performance but it can get out of it's own way.
Interior space is great and the ride is a lot nicer then the other cars in it's price range.

Take your car to your nearest Auto Zone, they can put a reader on your computer that will read the trouble code and tell you whats wrong. Most likely its an oxygen sensor which is not a big deal. But Auto Zone will check for free.
