fixing your credit is difficult but there are ways around it. The 1st thing to do would be to check your report to make sure it is consistent with your actual history.

Sometimes you will find errors on it from agencies that can actually be repaired by calling the debtor and explaining your situation. Or disputing errors by filing a claim with experian

Consider talking to an attorney. I know a lot of people hear say, you can fix your credit report yourself but I tried several times without any luck. I had a few things on my report that has been paid off for 2 years and I was still turned down for a mortgage at the beginning of this year because of my PAST history. I have been paying bills on time for 3 years. I am not trying to discourage you, but look into all options. Good Luck.

The best way to repair your credit is to make all payments on time and reduce your obligations. You don't need to make any more purchases until you get your present debts paid off. That only complicates the situation. It will take time to correct your credit score. It can't be done over night.

Fixing your credit score takes time. Be sure to make timely payments to the creditors that you owe the $4000.00 to, and don't miss any payments.

I know folks with the same problem, the only thing that helped them was to make timely payments. Over time showing potentail credit / loan companies a good credit history.

Best of luck.
