Maybe in the big picture. However, I have a lot of friends and family that subscribe to one religion or another. I would not want them to all die because of it.

I do wish that people were not so fanatical about their respective religions. Religion is all about making a person feel better about the randomness of the world, how does being mean and judgemental make a person feel good? (Your question was mean and judgemental, does it make you feel better?)

No and no.
Not only would the faithful probably take everyone else with them when they destroyed each other, but I'm sure you wouldn't really want to see so many people slaughtered. The dangerous fanatics are the minority of all the religions, even if they get alot of attention.

And no, that would not bring peace. Wars are fought for many reasons, and religion is probably about the least of these. The problems people have are mostly caused by our humanity, and so far there is no cure for that. It's just what we are.

I think it would be better if they all just got together, agreed to call the whole religion thing off, stopped killing each other, have a big laugh about the stupidity of it all, and started treating each other like simple humans.

But that won't happen until we all evolve for another 1000 years. At least they all cut out the human sacrifice/burning at the stake/crusade things a while back. Although it seems the suicide bombers never got that memo.

I doubt ANYONE is naive enough to believe that "no more religions = true peace on earth".

Generalizations are generally false. The generalization here is that atheists are ALL peaceful people. Not true on the face of the statement. Merely take a moment to reflect on the very "positive" image many present on this tiny forum. Imagine them in positions of power.

Absolutely Not !! I think it would be an answer to our prayers if we could all get together. To Love each other and Respect each other. To join together and have ONE RELIGION ! The only way Peace on earth will occur if we can eliminate negative characters, who think they know it all.

Simplistic.

Have some courage lad. I am one who agrees that we are better off with no religions, none whatsoever, but I dont lump them altogether as equally problematic as you do by implications.

Be honest. Its fear or cowardice that keeps you from singling out the idealogy behind Jihad. Now, thats the biggest problem in the world, is it not?

So sorry you feel that way in your heart. It is not the answer. What if your loved one was a christian or jew or muslim?

True peace is GOD

what a little peace activist you are, hoping that most of the world will kill each other off just so you don't have to deal with them. nice ethics. but the less cowardly solution is to work out problems, not eliminate them.

True peace on earth? So, you're prob agnostic right? What do you have to live for if you don't even believe in anything?

No. What bwould be truly wonderful is if everyone obeyed the commandments.

No wars, no rape, no murder, no adultery, no incest, no aids (it's not just for homosexuals), no greed, no corruption, no slander, no false accusers, no lies....... and people would be feeding the hungry, helping the poor, lifting up the meek etc. All these and more the commandments bring, if people would only obey them.
