My dog seems to have a problem with children, small children i've noticed. Everytime a child comes around he goes crazy! He starts barking and acting like a maniac, and might I mention the barking never stops until the child/ren are out of site. He also bites on the fence as if he's trying to figure out a way to get out of his gate. Honestly, I don't think he's had any bad experiences with children due to the fact that we've had him every since he was a puppy (about a month old), and every since we've had him no child has really ever been around him, but even I don't think thats the real problem. There is a guy down the street that came to our house and he has 2 children, one is 9 and the other is 5, and I noticed that the he didn't really bark at them, they were all at the gates playing around with him, he acted as if they didn't bother him at all. I dont know if the breed would have anything to do with this, but in case you all are wondering he's half chow and (we think) half fox.

I had a problem similar to this. I used to have a chain link fence and kids would go up the alley on bikes and tease my dobies just to see how aggressive they would get. In fear of one of the dogs going over the fence after one of the kids we took that fence down and put up a six foot privacy fence. With the memory that a dog has, 5+ years later when the dogs are at the front door and sees a kid going up the street on a bike they still go off. Dogs don't forget!!! Are you sure kids haven't teased your dog when he is out in the yard alone? I hope the dog isn't big enough to jump the fence. Even though the dog may have been teased, if he were to bite a child, they would blame it on the dog.

I have 3 min pins and they bark at everybody that goes by. I can't have visitors cuz they bark the whole time and you can't hear anyone talk. I think cuz they aren't socialized. The only thing I could think to do is buy bark control collars, (the kind that shocks)and have them wear them part of the day. After a while all I had to do was pick it up when they started barking and ask if they want it on. That would shut them right up.

My puppie does that too and I hate it. Two little kids of family friends came into the house a couple days ago and he ran to her and stoof infront of her barking and we dont know why. Hes fine with anyone else but with children he freaks out. So if anyone knows how we can get him to stop I would like to know too.

Ok, nothing is wrong with your dog, he/she is probably not used to children that small. I have an 8 year old beagle and a little 2 year old next door. My neighbor loves to chase my dog and she always freaks out! She runs away from her. I asked her doctor (vet whatever) and she said that my dog just isnt used to children that small. I hope this helps you!

A chow breed can get a little ornery as I witness with two neighbors who have them. Mixed with, perhaps, fox? Do you think the mix of domestic and wild blood have anything to do with it?

When he was a pup he wasn't properly socialized with children. When puppies are very young the situations they encounter stay with them. So if you wanted him to be good with kids you would have had to socialized him with kids before he was 12 weeks old.

Same problem here... lol
Try giving him treats when he barks like crazy
start not to pamper him
DO NOT TREAT HIM/HER LIKE A BABY
they will think they are the controller
Don't let them jump on u or let it on couches and furniture
HOPE IT HELPS
