You really should read the 'whole' thing. Then you will have your answer.

Gen 3:4-5

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Seems to me the answer is right there in front of you. They would be able to see between good and evil.

This is the big lie that the world is engrossed in and believe, that we have an immortal soul. Opposite of what God tells us, Genesis 2:7 and man became a living soul. Ezekiel 18:4 and the soul that is sinning, it itself will die. And read Ecclesiastes 9:5 and 9:10 we are conscious of nothing at all when we die, we go into non-existence and have to wait asleep in death for the resurrection Jesus preached.

The serpent was doing what we all love to do. Twist the truth to fit our current need or desire.

Ye shall not surely die, was in part truthful. They would not die that very moment. He neglected to tell them that they would become as the devil is, separated from God, the one that they loved and the devil hates.

Ye shall be as the Gods. Remember, the devil saw and sees himself as a God, even though he is but a creation of God. He wants nothing more than to be equal to or better than the one whom created him.

Means that we would now not only know good, but we would also know evil and understand exactly what we have done to ourselves and what we just gave up.

Nothing good ever comes out of half truths and twisted logic, even right in the beginning.

i think he was being cunning, i mean adam and even don't instantly die, and "ye shall be as gods" meant that we would know what God knows, prior to Adam/Eve taking a bite from the fruit of that tree they were pure good and had no idea what evil was,or that they were nekkid in a garden.

Essentially, yes... as he was among them --the Sons of God-- who all have immortality as they did, feeding from the Tree of Life; but eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Bad would elevate them even further...

Peace be with you.
