How big of a role is appearance to all you men and women? When is it ok t consider someone shallow?

How do you know if you or someone else is "really" shallow?

You use your experience and social skills to determine if someone is shallow or not. Not every interaction requires rocket science and it is often appropriate for superficiality to transpire between each other.
Physical appearance is often deceiving. It is what we base our first impressions on. Once you get to know the person your opinion can change.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of shallow people out there from both genders. For instance... many men have hangups on not wanting to be with someone that they consider overweight. Many women don't want to be with someone that is short.

To me, anyone that brings in external criteria other than personality, interests, etc. can be considered shallow. If someone is lucky enough to be considered attractive by phsyical standards, or even is "average"... it's hard for them to see how shallow it is to place importance on physical appearance because they've never had to deal with it themselves.

Appearance gets my attention, but if i don't feel a spark within the first few conversations i don't go out with her.

Someone is shallow if they only care about the other persons status, financial situation, looks, what kind of car they drive, etc. Shallow people deserve all the heartache they get. They are worthless people in my opinion.

If ur appearance is well kept, i mean extremely well kept doesn't mean that they are shallow, but until they carry themselves as if u aren't on their level and look at ur demeanor as if it ain't nothing thatn that person is shallow. when u ask a friend to go somewhere with u and they say yeah, when it is time to go u say "r u going like that", shallow. and shallowness is ignorance.

personally i only like girls that i think are pretty or hot or whatever but they have to be nice before i really "like" them. shallow people go out with people just because of their looks and nothing else.

appearance isn't very big to me i all depends on the character of that person to me and i don't think it is ever all right to call someone shallow . cause that is just shooting some one down to me and also judging them to and i don't believe in that.

Appearance is very important to me as far as cleanliness goes. If someone is lacking in hygiene (including dental hygiene), it's a real turn-off. Other than that, looks don't matter much.
