If you are asking whether since you smoke marijuana if they would accept you the answer is maybe. The magic number if I remember correctly is three. You ADMIT to smoking more then that then no you will not be accepted. If you ADMIT to use of any other drug you will not be accepted. (Notice that the keyword is ADMIT.) Little bit of advice, this should be the last time you ever admit to using drugs. The Air Force is not going to give you a lie detector. The Air Force is not going to hound you into admitting the truth accept at MEPS. Your recruiter will ask, DENY. Meps will ask, again DENY. When you get to basic training they will ask again….guess what DENY again. Yes, Integrity First is our motto BUT that motto has not become yours yet. This is a chance to start a new life and have great opportunities do not ruin it for yourself because of past mistakes. You could also be like me and admit to single time use, on a single date that you will not forget and never admit to anything else. Really though, I wouldn’t even do that if I could go back in time, because now it is written that I used a drug on official paperwork. They will give you a hard time at the MEPS station and people will ask you over and over again, threaten you with jail time if you lie, just never change your answer. It’s always no or that one date.
Also, if you were ever arrested for pot then it will be more difficult and you have to talk to a recruiter about the circumstances were and what you were charged with. I know if a felony then no we will not accept you but some misdemeanors we will depending on what it was.
Drug testing will be preformed when you initially sign your paperwork and take your ASVAP. Then again when you arrive at the MEPS after your DEP time (this is time between when you sign up and before you leave, it might be months or it could be just one night.) Then again once you arrive at basic training, when you go for all your immunizations. (I think that was the second day of training.) Once you are a member of Active Duty AF your name will be randomly called to perform other drug tests. Don’t be stupid and be one of these people who get kicked out because they fail a drug test.
Since you want to join because you can’t get another job….not quite positive that it is for you. There is a lot of stuff going on around the world. Don’t be naive and think because you won’t be a pilot that the AF is safe. Yes, it is safer then other branches but go in knowing that you can lose your life. This is a great opportunity for you but make sure you are ready for this commitment.
You have to be careful what your actual job will be too. You cannot get any job that requires anything above a secret clearance level. Reasons being, extensive background checks are done after that level. They will talk to old acquaintances and family members about what your lifestyle is like. You will be providing the list of family and friends but there is still a chance that one will open their mouth about your past. There are many, many jobs in the AF that do not need a higher clearance and if you make the AF into a career by the time you need that clearance your acquaintances list will change.
So just remember it’s a piss test. It’s neither a polygraph nor a hair strand test. You are clean stay clean and this will never be a problem. Talk to a recruiter and never offer up any information. The recruiters will usually say something like, “Keeping in mind that if you did this we cannot accept you….” Just follow their lead. They will do background checks though so don’t lie about your police record if you have one.
Hope this helps. Good luck to you.

The quickest and safest way to clean your system is: 1. Water 2. Sweating Start drinking water right now and drink a gallon everyday until the test. Do more if you can stand it. Sip on several glass fulls throughout the entire day. If you can get to a sauna or steam room, go immediately. If not, do something which makes you sweat a lot. The toxins in THC also escape the body through sweat. I should know. I used to be a probation officer..

Well quite honestly, marijuana is probably NOT the reason that you can't get a good job, lack of education probably is. No not trying to be nasty, I have been there.
Go to school and futher your education. That's about the only way that you are going to get ahead.
I have smoked for years and I have a great job that I love...education is key.
If you want to go into the AF to further your education, or maybe you just want to go...good luck! I was AD (active duty) Navy for 6 years...awesome experience.

If you can't get in the airforce you can try the Army. The airforce has higher standards than the Army. The Army will give you more money to enlist and for college. http://360.yahoo.com/mrdud73

You just told the story of the Airforce...
However you left something out... its the part about not having enough money to go to college because tuition prices have risen 40+% since Bush has been in office.

that depends wholly on you, study the ASVAB book for the best job, start getting in shape so basic is a little easier. See a Air Force recruiter, don't be surprised if they don't offer guaranteed skills anymore, its still pretty easy to recruit for the Air Force.

Yes, you would be a good candidate. However, if you have never been busted for smoking marijuana I don't believe I would bring it up.

Can you test high enough on the ASVAB? I just wouldn't talk about the marijuana thing if I were you. It will limit your opportunities.

the airforce will treat you the best out of all the branches....its worth working for good grades to get into the airforce rather than any other branch....
If you want to join the airforce and you qualify....they will take you no doubt.

thr answer lies in your heart..you gave up MJ ...good...how are your reflexes..if you want to fly? Can you be responsible? The Airforce is a commitment...not a job...it is a career....not a job..it is a way of life...the question is...can you do/commit to it? A job is bull "...." A career is a life. go for it
