Has she tried taking them outside on a regular schedule. Right after they eat, nap and play is the best time to try to get them to "go". I have 3 chihuahuas and they all use the "piddle pads" That way there is easy clean up and no smell if you change them out regularly. If you catch them in the act take them either outside OR to the pad whichever method you prefer and then reward them if they preform. OH be sure to use an enzyme cleaner for their mishaps because they will tend to go back to the same spot over and over. You can get this at Walmart or Petsmart or anywhere really. Please do not rub their noses in their boo boos. This will only make matters worse for you and the dogs.

I would say crate training is the best way. The "puppy pads" are maybe an okay way but they get exhausting after a while if you forget to put them down and such. Taking them out after they eat and waiting until they go to the bathroom is good too because if not you'll realize your sock is wet or something smells eventually. But im not sure how crate training works if its not a puppy and introduced earily in their life to learn what its for.

I used Puppy training pads. The ones you buy in a pet store have a sent on them that will attract the puppy to go there. You still have to watch him and remind him if he forgets to go to the pad. In a few weeks, after your puppy is used to going on the pads, move them close to the door. Then when you see him going to the door, you let him out. You can get them at Wal-Mart too.

chihuahas are easy to train, but you have to take them out a lot when you start out. losely roll a couple of peices of news paper to spank them with when you catch them in the house, then make them go outside, to get them to go to the door and let you know they want out after spanking take to closed door and scatch there feet on door that will teach to ask to go out.
Five chihuahas in my house so it works.

You really need to crate train these dogs. Even if they are not puppies. That is the only way they are going to learn to go outside and do their business.
