Of course there were more than one David, however, the David referenced to here is King David, ruler of Israel for 40 years. The sons of David are believers in Christ.

You need to read the Bible at Biblegateway.com especially the Old Testament.
He was first mentioned in Ruth. His story can be found in 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings and 1 Chronicles.
There is only one David in the Holy Bible.
David was a shepherd boy. He was a psalmist. He wrote many of the Psalms. He became the second king of Isreal. He had sons and daughters. One of them was King Solomon who wrote Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon. King Solomon's story can be found in 2 Samuel, 1 Kings and 2 Chronicles.

The reason it was important to be a son of David, who was the 2nd king of Isarael is because of a prophecy made by the prophets that a Messiah (Annointed One) would come from the tribe of judah, and from the kingly line of David. Because David was a righteous man, God declared that he would never lack a man to sit on the throne of David, and the final King, the Messiah, would rule forever. That final king was Jesus.

David was the son of Jesse, he fought Goliath and killed him with a stone. he later became king and is has a direct linage to Abraham, and is the father of Solomon. the entire linage is found in the book of Mathew, it tells that Jesus' father Joesph was from this family. the bible doesn't refer to any other David. David had many sons second Samuel chapter 3 verse 2 tells of his sons.

David was a Jewish king. The New Testament claims that Jesus was a descendant of David, the term "sons" sometimes being used to mean "descendants".

The David refered to is King david. The one who God chose to replace King Saul. Sons and daughter of David are those who can trace their ancestory to King David. Just as any natural Jew can trace their ancestory back to Abraham. If you can not you are a prostylatite Jew.

thats the bloodline they speak of, an a powerful on at that too. if anyone today was part of that they would have immense political and religious power. surely someone must be alive with that blood in them, just be hard to prove without DNA of any of the original Davidians(?).
