Of course it is. You can't teach a lot of stuff unless you do it for real. So if you want a vet who can save an animal, he has to have worked on a real animal in the past...not just read it in a book.
And reserch is the only way to save animlas. If all dogs were dying of something...you would not want to just stand there and say 'darn, guess all the dogs will die now'. And that goes double for animal stuff that effects humans too.

Well it's better than the alternative of doing it on people. Animal testing is how most everthing gets tested before it hits market. Its sometimes cruel but what other choice do we have. Would you rather chance killing a human or an animal.

For research, if you mean in the sense of testing them with certain chemicals and whatnot, yes. Animals provide good "hamsters" for researchers to gain valuable information.

Yes, because if you have ever gotten a chicken pox shot or flu shot that came about from animal testing. Many medicines that we take are a result of animal testing. Some things just cannot be tested on humans because it would endanger their welfare.

It is the only way to find out the unknown. A computer can only tell you what it is told to say.

For benefit of "physical" human "health & welfare" (pretty much only) - NOT "beauty", or otherwise - certainly - we have been granted ... given, and rightfully retain, DOMAIN over animals.
