Maybe because he knew he was going to. The whole point for Jesus to come down to earth was to die. It was something he HAD to do, not something that might have happened. He needed someone to betray him, so maybe he picked Judas because he knew he would. I am a Christian, and here is a weird question. If Jesus needed someone to betray him, is judas in heaven for doing what jesus wanted? That one always stumps me.

Another way to look at it is to say, could Jesus have saved us by not dying? Did he have to die, or was it inevitable because of the things he said. I believe he choose Judas along with the others because he wanted to. Judas had free will, and for whatever reason, he chose to hand Jesus over to the authorities. He was sorry afterwards, but hung himself. I do not believe that Jesus or God picked Judas to do the dirty work, then condem him to Hell.. It would not be freewill, would it? God forseen what Judas would do, therefore Jesus would have said that he came into the world for this reason. Just a thought!

I'm not going to claim that I have the answer, but I do have an opinion. I think Judas was an example of the fallen angels and even may be an example of what happens to some people. Imagine having been with the Lord and seeing Him do all those amazing miracles and sharing all of that wonderful love and wisdom and then turning your back on Him. But the truth is, this happens even today, some get a taste of the goodness of God and still turn their backs on Him and chose their own way. I can't understand it myself, but I do accept it as reality.

Hello,

Jesus had to become fully man as well as being fully God while on earth. However he had to also give authority to God the father to become fully a man and fulfil prophecy. This is because of the order of creation. Everything must be in it's right order as you can see all around in creation. Jesus knew that the prophecy had to come and that he had to trust in the father so that WE can be saved.

Judas wasn`t deluded, so would go through with act. If you wish to die, only a good friend will help.

Because betrayal was all part of the plot. He NEEDED to go to the cross.

Jesus offers salvation to all....even though he knows that even today many will foolishly choose hell instead.
