2. the anti-american war protesters which included Hanoi Jane Fonda, Hanoi John F'N Kerry.
3. The democratic administration of LB Johnson
4. The commie Hollyweird crowd

Vietnam did not do anything to threaten the U.S. or the U.S. Constitution.
Going to Vtnam was supporting an 'armed conflict'. The U.S. congress never declared WAR.
That is why vets of that era do not have respect of the people.
They did not have to go. ........Same occurence in Korea in 1950.
My father was called up in 1950 from WWII reserves. and told his superiors just that about Korea. He was given and honorable discharge.
