you read to many story books, people think of Adam and Eve as you and I, not so, man was made in God's image, yes, but God is not a being, he is way above that, and when they talk of beig alive for a hundren years, you must remember they did not know what a year was in thoses days, it was more like 800 moons, thank about it we get 12 moons a year

Dear ag,

The whole Bible is the word of God. Therefore, you must read very carefully the word of God and compare Scripture with Scripture. If you continue to Genesis 5:4, you will find that Adam and Eve had many other children but their names are not listed. At that particular time in history, it was permissable for a son to to marry his sister. Remember, that God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. Adam's lifespan was 930 years and so was able to have many sons and daughters.

The Bible records that Adam and Eve had sons and daughters.

The Bible tells us that Adam and Eve had daughters as well as sons. If Cain married early in his life, his wife would have been his sister. If he married late, it could have been one of his countless relatives.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cain and Abel were not the only children of Adam and Eve, even though many people think so.
Genesis 5:4 says Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters, and Jewish tradition teaches they had 33 sons and 23 daughters. (Remember that Adam lived 930 years, so he and Eve had plenty of time to have 56 children!)

To get the population started, of course, at least one of Adam and Eve's sons had to marry one of the daughters. It is likely that in the first generation all marriages were between brother and sister. Living so close to the time of the perfect creation, no genetic problems would have developed yet, so no harm would have come from such close marriages.

By the time of Moses, 2600 years later, many biological problems had accumulated, which made marriage between close relatives dangerous, so laws were given against it and are still in place today.

We are not told how old Cain was when he went out to build his city (Genesis 4:17). But Bible commentators have estimated that at least 120,000 people could have been alive on earth within only a few hundred years. So Cain probably had quite a lot of women to choose from for a wife.

If he married early in his life, his wife would have been his sister. If he married late, it could have been one of his countless relatives.

Well not only does it say in Genesis that Adam and Eve had sons and daughters if you look really closely at the bible it is gods way of telling a fable. this story is used to explain the consequences of turning against god. you will no longer be able to eat from his fruit tree. in other words you will no longer be able to receive his love the same way everyon else does

The Adam rejoiced at Eve's deliverance, and also over the children she had borne him. And Adam ministered to Eve in the cave, until the end of eight days; when they named the son Cain, and the daughter Luluwa.

When the children were weaned, Eve again conceived, and when her pregnancy came to term, she gave birth to another son and daughter. They named the son Abel and the daughter Aklia.

Cain left with Luluwa and Seth married Aklia.

As for Adam, he knew not again his wife Eve, all the days of his life; neither was any more offspring born of them; but only those five, Cain, Luluwa, Abel, Aklia, and Seth alone.

That's one of the questions that have troubled mankind alot. Yet, I'm going to tell you what I heard. It sounds pretty logical.

When God created Adam and Eve, he also created other people with them, but on other parts of the earth. The Bible doesn't tell us about them, cause that isn't necessary. The story of Adam and Eve gives us enough detail of God's creation and the fall of man, just enough to explain the gospel.

You must remember, although the Bible talks about happenings in the past, it is not a history guide. Its main purpose is to get people to come to God, and the information given is more than enough to do that.

So, in conclusion, God created more people than just Adam and Eve, but the Bible just doesn't mention them.

Hope that helped...

It never says they only had boys.

Also Adam and Eve were created perfect so there was nothing wrong with incest at that time, yes I know I will get bashed for this but incest slowly became unacceptable because of disease, and so on and so on. It wasn't until later God said sisters couldn't lay with brothers etc.

Now the population and genes are so deluded that even a cousin or second cousin could damage the genes of the child.

Gensi:s 5:2-5

3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. 4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years AND HAD OTHER SONS AND DAUGHTERS. 5 Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.

There is no Luluwa, Lulubit, Lulu anything in the Bible. somebody seems to have made that up. I am impressed, It is original. Good job. Asking on yahoo often gives false answers. The extra people are never mentioned enough to say where they came from. When Cain goes to Nod and starts building a City (to be called Enoch)the people just appear by magic, like in the SimCity games.

This is actually one of the great theological questions.

From the bible, the implication is that Eve and her sons engaged in incest to procreate.

Some Judeo/Christian religions have invented women unmentioned in the bible as wives for Adam and Eve's sons - but they are obviously not mentioned in the bible.

Some have pointed out that women are rarely mentioned, so the argument is potentially valid.

Excellent question though.
