Spag bol, tea, red wine, blood can't think of anything else, leave for a couple of days before trying to clean it. But why on earth do you want to stain a carpet anyway?????

Never heard of anyone trying to stain a carpet before, that is if you are trying to change the colour. Maybe you can get some kind of dye-fix. Ask where you are buying the dye from and ask advice at the same time.

Guess you have been using a water-based stain. Suggest a Spirit Based stain as for wood.
