He has been diagnosed with ADHD and takes rx for this but it's hard to be in the room with him. We watch a movie and he asks questions the entire time. He speaks in a whiny fashion and comes across as rude. Interrupts everyone, etc. I have 3 other children that don't act this way. Is this a condition, such as ODD or something else? I need answers. He is alienating everyone! He also is very sensitive and cries a lot.

What does he eat??? Junk food and addatives can cause behavioural problems in kids. ADHD is a modern condition it didnt exist 50 or even 30 years ago. Pumping your kid full of drugs is not the awnser. Try changing his diet to organic foods only and make sure he gets out of the house and into the countryside, fresh air and greenery. Also maybe he just needs some parental rules to live by, maybe he has too much control over what he does and when, the lack of parental dissaplin is often the cause of such behaviour with kids today. If none of these suggestions work get a second opinion because it could be autism.

I have been in a similar situation with my 5 year old. He went through the same phase and I tried everything. He was getting in trouble at school and it was oh so annoying. We started using the choice board. I would get on his level and let him know that he always has two choices and he can either choose the good or the bad and then let him know what the consequences would be. No matter which he choosed he is going to be the one to suffer the outcome. It is very hard but if you are firm and you follow through with the consequences it will work. Just make sure that when he chooses the good behavior you reward him by praise. Let him know that you are proud of him and that he is smart and you believe in him. Along with being easier for you to deal with it will also give him a feeling of his owm independence and make him want to choose the good behavior because of the good feelings he will dicover of himself. Try it! You will be amazed of the outcome. Good luck!

I know how you feel. I have a 9 year old that does this. He aggravates everyone but then gets pissed off when someone aggravates him. I am at the end of my rope now as to what to do. He is on meds and has a follow up doctor's appt. to see how they are helping him. The meds could be the problem, your child may need a different dosage or a different medication.

Look up Aspergers Syndrome online. There are different levels of it.....My son is 9 and has been diagnosed with this since he was 6. He has a mild form of it. Sounds exactly like my son. Good Luck! You can email me through my profile if you have any questions!:)

Talk to your son's pediatrician. He/She has dealt with this problem a lot and give you some resources to help you.

He probably feels badly because he knows he's being annoying but can't fix this on his own.

Good luck.

Take him to a child psychologist. They are professionals who can help you and him find out if there is an actual psychological issue or if he just needs help learning how to control himself.
