What is in it that would make me allergic to it?

Synthetic chemicals because it's a fragrance oil.
Actually, all fragrance oils are basically unsafe because they are loaded with chemicals.

Hope you don't live in Hawaii where they are so prevelant they often are made into Leis for around the neck. Avoid the flower.
