My lad is 18mths old and its amazing how obsessed you get with the colour of poo, there is information in books and on the web. It usually is just a change of food, but can be down to a stomach bug. Don't panic if they are still feeding, give plenty of boiled water, you wait until they are eating full veg meals, pale poo will be the least of your problems....Good Luck.

It depends what you're feeding him. If he is strictly formula, did you change it? If he is strictly breastfed, then you need to eat more iron, because he may be anemic. Same if he's on solids already... pale poo is a sign of anemia, which is an iron deficiency. Feed him some spinach or some beef, or some iron enriched baby cereal.

If he starts showing other signs of illness, like fever or lethargy, then I'd give your pediatrician a call.
Good luck!

Anemia can cause poo to get lighter. Try to find ways to up his iron intake (however, be careful - overdoing it and giving him too much iron can be very very dangerous). For a 9-month-old, it would be safe to offer him spinach or scrambled eggs, or bits of beef hamburger patties. Definately talk to his doctor as soon as possible to make sure it's nothing else, though. If you notice it changing color AND texture (seeming greasy), make an appointment with his doctor soon if he's not due for another checkup until 1 yr.

My 7 year old has been doing the same-I upped her iron intake, and that seems to have helped. I gave her fig rolls for a snack, including more lean beef in her meals, and hid finely minced spinach in casseroles, bolognaise sauce, and gravy.

Most often, pale shows a lack of fruit,
green is a lack of vegetables.
Strange - but observed for many years.
