Hi, I wonder if it is just me, or are you all noticing day-in/day-out how many people swear in front of their children each day.
I has in a show looking for christmas cards, when a woman behind me said to the shop assistant:"I want some of those f***ing paints, and some f***ing glitter, but only some cheap sh*t." I turned around and the person swearing was a mother with her 2-year-old. I noticed several of those instances in one single day.
What's wrong with people?

Its not good is it. I have a friend who not only swears in font of her kids but swears at them!! It makes me feel so uncomfortable. I try not to meet up with her very often as I have two children of my own but I have a small group of friends locally and no car to see the ones that have moved away!
I tell my children that she says bad words and they are not to repeat anything she says but I worry that they may pick the odd word up!!

I don't think that these people realise what they could be turning their kids into. I have done my best for my kids! If I have a problem with my husband I do not talk to him about it til the kids are in bed, even tho I am useless at arguing and it probably sounds more like whinging!

I have never heard a swear word from my kids and if I did I would wash their mouths out with soap!! My parents did it to me and I learnt not to repeat the stuff I heard at school!!

Don't agree with swearing full stop let alone any where near kids!!

Yes I agree it is horrible and uncomfortable to hear parents swearing in front of and at their children. Its just took me back to the other day when i was in the supermarket and I came accross a newborn baby that was only a few weeks old and I was thinking aah how sweet. The mother of the baby turned to her her mother (grandmother to the baby) and turned round and said the " I only took her dummy to play with her the silly cow". Not as bad as the F*** word but just as bad. It makes you wonder what this worlds' coming too.

Yeah, swearing is wrong to do period, in front of children or not. But we are only human, and sometimes it does slip. But, what you heard OUT IN PUBLIC was outrageous!!!! That's not called "slipping" is just plain inappropriate!!!
I must confess, I have said a few BAD words in front of my daughter, when I mess up or accidently break something. And then I turn to her EACH time and say, "Mommy said a bad word. Don't ever repeat it. It's not nice." And now, if I don't tell her that I said a bad word...SHE TELLS ME! : " Mommy that was a bad word, you shouldn't say that."
The reasons we hear children cursing and swearing is because parents don't teach them otherwise. My daughter knows that sometimes Mommy uses "potty mouth" and isn't suppose to because it's rude. And I apologize to her when I say it. I have NEVER once heard her swear, because SHE KNOWS BETTER!!

i hear it every day at school in the streets, shops well everywhere really not from everyone but by most and its usually women(no offence to all women) it seems to me that its easier to swear than to think what they are going to say for example when asking a child to come to them they say f***ing get here instead of being polite and saying come here now its as though they cant be bothered to speak without swearing

I was in Tesco about a week ago and witnessed a woman asking (at great volume) her approximately 3 year old daughter why she was being such "a f*cking b*itch". It shocked the hell out of me. The little girl barely reacted though so I can only assume that she hears this all of the time.
I'm quite sure it's the same parents who'll smack the hell out of their children when they hear them swear !

I'm the 1st to put my hands up & admit to swearing on occasion, if I stub my toe, fall over my feet or burn the tea but I don't swear at my kids like the lady you witnessed, that's disgusting, if my daughter is nearby when I do use bad language I'll tell her that I said a bad word & that I'm naughty. Anybody that comes into my house & swears I will tell them to watch their language, especially my sister as swearing comes naturally to her! Anger makes people swear so chances are if you're angry you're going to swear but a lot of people don't need to be angry, they just think swearing is cool, they don't realise it makes them look like retarded fools!

So true, its horrible when you hear people do that and they seem so unaware of the stupidity of their actions and how it will affect their children.
I have to admit though, I have sworn a couple of times in front of my child(not at my child) when I have been very angry and not thought properly. But I always apologise afterwards and explain that those words are wrong to use and sometimes everyone makes mistakes.

Kids are complete “sponges” they are absorbing everything in their life that surrounds them! Literally EVERYTHING. Parent’s who swear at/around their children are complete MORON’S Period. From the time kids are able to focus their eyes, ears, and all their other senses they are “learning!” Actual talking is one of the later developments, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t already imprinted what they’ve learned,, only the ability to effectively communicate. (they have already been communicating, cooing, crying, etc..)

Parent’s who swear at/around their kids only prove there REALLY needs to be a Parent test before becoming pregnant!!
