I am a healthy 62 yo retired engineer living on 5 wooded acres near the Columbia River in the Pacific Northwest, good retirement income, everything is paid for, I’m not very ugly (5’-11” 185), and I have been searching on dating sites for 4 years, but no mate to date. All the local girls are either happily married, severe alcoholics, or on drugs. What’s wrong?

You may be in need of a makeover inside and out. There are more single men than women and with all you describe, you meet a woman's need for security(security is a woman's primary need). You may be a nerd. Engineers frequently are opinionated and not too personable.Go to a counselor and ask for subjective, honest ,information on their impressions of you and change in the areas you can. See how that works.

Good question. I was just dumped because of his old issues. I'm beginning to wonder if it's at all worth it. I'm 46 and don't understand why I'm alone as I have a lot to offer and I'm a nice person. And, I'm not ugly. I think that maybe when the time is right someone will come around for both of us when we both stop looking. They say when you stop looking someone appears. Good luck with your love interests and my love find you.

Try signing up for a social or sporting group in your area where groups of single people get together. It is always easier to meet singles in person because u can strike up a conversation quickly. See what u like to do for fun and find groups that do teh same things:)

well it has taken me five years - but I finally found someone to get off the dating wheel - just hang in there - it will work out if you are really looking for someone with some potential to settle down with.

Good Luck!!!

and wish me some too

your member profile sure can't help, you may think you are alot of things but sell yourself on the positive aspects of yourself just to get "a foot in the door" you maybe surprised that you are not as negative as you are self impling.
There are many international dating services available, give them a try

Dear I think you could meet you sole mate by attending church. Pray to the lord and he will send you that someone to make your life complete. You could also try doing volunteer work that will give you joy. God Bless.

Try joining a church, there are usually a lot of older single women there.
