All animals have a danger ... however, I have mild allergies to animals and my mom had a poodle and pomeranian - no allergy problems with that dog for me.

Choose your dog wisely. Although even dogs with little or no hair can produce allergy causing dander, they are often a good choice. Choose a Chinese Crested or a Mexican Hairless. Other dogs don't shed much, helping keep down the amount of airborne dander in the home. These are dogs such as the Bedlington Terrier, Basenji, Miniature Schnauzer and Italian Greyhound. Some dogs have soft hair that grows constantly and are known to produce less dander. These dogs include the Bichon Frise and the Poodle.
New multi-breed dogs, known as "designer dogs" are being bred to produce less dander and thus are being sold as 'hypo-allergenic". These include breeds usually mixed with poodles such as the Labradoodle (labrador and poodle mix) and the maltipoo(maltese and poodle mix). No dogs are completely dander-free so make sure that you understand the additional steps you will need to do if you decide to get a dog even if a family member has an allergy.

Depends on how bad your allergies are and if the dog has the type of dander you are allergic to.
Here is what I would suggest-go spend 30 mins with the dog. Wait 24 hrs to see if you have any syptoms. Then go back and play with the dog again, but this time rub your face and eyes afterwords. This will be the true test!!!!
You could always take OTC allergy meds if you want a dog that bad. What about a purebred Poodle, Bichon Frise, or Chinese Crested?

Though poodles and some mixes with poodles have a lot less dander they still have it. I'd suggest you baby sit for a weekend for someone else's poodle or poodle mix in their house and see if you have any problems with it. Some people with allergies do okay with poodles or mixes but how will you know if you aren't around one long enough to figure out what fits for you?

Depends how bad your allergies are. You should really try spending a day with a friend's poodle before getting one of your own. Also, if it's a mix, that's going to cancel out the benefit to you of the poodle. Some people still have a dog, and take medication to control their allergies.

yes i fyou are allergic to dander thanyou would not be doing yourself any good by getting one. Personally I don't think dogs are anything but bad for allergies. The idea that a poodle will help a [person with asthma is a myth. Be sides most poodles stink to high heaven.

I have a Bichonpoo (1/2 Bichon Frise 1/2 Poodle) she does not bother my allergies at all. I also take her to visit a friend of mine who has allergies and she gets in her face and everything and there are no allergy problems.

get a purebred poodle rather than a cross.. too many people are intentionally breeding crosses and charging rediculous amounts for "mutts"
if you found a dog for adoption then thats ok but dont buy one...now genetically it will depend on what kind of coat the dog has - if it inherrited the poodles genes or the other dogs
talk to your doctor about allergy medicatins (or shots) if you are further concerned and really want a dog

Poodles, poodle mixes, and bichon frises are often suggested as hypoallergenic dogs. If those are not your style, there are different opportunities that would artwork (yet could be researched extra) mutually with basenjis or Italian greyhounds (and others!). even nonetheless you have your heart set on a undeniable style of dogs, do not dive precise in and purchase one. Your wellness comes first, and having to provide up a dogs while your sinus subjects substitute into too lots to bear could be heart-breaking. I artwork at a puppy boarding hotel, and one in all our clientele had to provide up her little dogs of 9 years because of the fact she progressed severe allergies to him and the wellness subjects she substitute into having have been in basic terms not livable anymore. We helped her to place him in a loving abode yet that may not obtainable. formerly you bond with a dogs you recognize will reason you hypersensitivity problems interior the long-term, evaluate the outcomes. If no hypoallergenic dogs attraction to you, possibly yet another variety of puppy could artwork greater advantageous first of all. **As different answerers talked approximately, it somewhat is nicely worth noting that calling a dogs hypoallergenic is a relative term. Poodles etc would have heavily much less hair, dander, etc that comes out of their coat to waft around interior the air you breathe at abode, yet some will nonetheless be there. No dogs is shed-unfastened. some are in basic terms much less of an argument than others.
