Sweet potatoes are longer than russet potatoes and they are orange inside.
A very easy way to cook it is to wash it, poke some holes in it, and then wrap it in aluminum foil. Bake it in the oven (350degree or so) at least 45 minutes depending on size. Dump it out of the foil onto your plate without burning yourself in the steam, and peel all of the skin off. Top with butter and/or salt as desired.

Sweet potatoe is a yam. Very orange in colour, same texture as a potatoe but sweeter in flavour.
You can pretty much cook it the same as you would a normal potatoe.
I have had them mashed with a little butter. Yum
Jacketed. Yum
In stews. Yum
Rosti mixed with a little spring onion. Yum
Never tried them roast or chipped.

In the U.S. a sweet potato is often called a yam (they are not the same thing in other places) and they can be baked like regular white potatoes...or candied with spices, casserole-like, and topped with marshmallows...and some people like sweet potato pie...
Look up some recipes online and see what appeals to you...
They are more healthy than a white pototao, but I've never acquired a taste for them...

Sweet potato is an orangey colour potato which tastes a bit sweeter than the usual varieties and has a slightly different texture. I mash mine and put lots of butter, salt and pepper in and a pinch of nutmeg. It's also nice in a stew or soup and goes well with rosemary. Enjoy.

Sweet potatoes are like yams. They look like potatoes with a reddish skin and are somewhat sweet. I bake them or mash them. To bake: poke about 8 times with a fork and put in a 400 degree oven for an hour. To mash: peel and cut into small pieces and place in a pan with water to cover. Boil until tender, drain, and place in mixer with some butter or margarine.

The sweet potato is a vine and grows in the soil attached to the root of the plant.
I boil mine till tender (poke it with a fork) and then
cut it in halves or quarter it so it will fit in a frying pan. Peel the skin if you like. Then put a thin pat of butter under each piece and press the pieces into granulated brown sugar put in the frying pan sugar side down and fry till the sugar caramelizes.

My fav way to eat sweet potato (or yams) is to take the canned yams and pour off most of the juice. Put it in a baking dish and cover with a generous amount of brown sugar. Bake in the oven at about 325-350 for maybe 30 mins. I love them with a traditional turkey or ham dinner! YUMMO!
