I have a dog that is incredibly friendly with all people but absolutely hates other dogs. Is there any way to train her to like other dogs or is it just in her nature that she doesn't like them?

I have the same problem with my Akita - he loves people. I have spoke to many experts and all agree that it will be a problem the rest of his life and I have to be cautious in situations with other dogs ... now, there are people out there that says a dog can be trained but I do not believe this. Dogs can be trained but the instinct is there ... good luck.

I have a dog that is the same way, she LOVES people, and she expects all people to love her just as much! On the other hand she see's or hears a dog and she starts this undergrowl thing and if the dog gets closer she sounds SO mean, she has NEVER done anything truely mean only made the noises. We laugh at her because she is TINY and she sounds so mean. With her I socialized her really really well with people, she went everywhere with me and everybody petted her and held her and played with her. But we didn't know anybody with dogs so she didn't get socialized with dogs. My sister ended up getting a Jackrussel and my dog London did the same thing around him the first time she met him, the next time she was around him she remembered him and now they are BEST friends. He does this adorable protective thing with her, it is to cute. Now I know her behavior, she always acts this way the first time she meets a new dog, then she becomes their best friend. My mom recently got a dog and it was the same thing. We just laugh, good luck!

maybe she just isn't used to them. my dog is the same way, only he doesn't like dogs that are bigger than him! lol he calms down once he has a chance to warm up. you can try that, but if it still doesn't work, some dogs are meant to be the only dog in the family!
