Yea! It's happended to me about 5 times in the past 20 years. It scared me. When I went to the doctor I told her about it. She says it happens to a few of us from time to time. What happens is you are awake ( You wake up from sleep ) and become aware "BUT" part of the brain that controls your body movements is still asleep so you lay there and "Know" you are awake but can't control your arms or legs. ( For me I was afraid I couldn't breath ) What a horrible felling that is. My eyes can move but the rest of me is dead weight. Scary!!! The doctor said this is no big deal. ( For me it was and still is everytime it happens) So now you know you won't die. LOL!!! Sure feels like you are dying when you lay there and can't move. Ha!!

Sounds like sleep paralysis to me, where the part of your mind that controls alertness and concentration is active, but the part of the mind that controls all or most of the muscle groups of the body during sleep is still inactive; it's kind of like when doctors give you a general anesthetic for surgery, but it should not happen naturally.
If this is an ongoing problem, you need to get to your doctor and get on some drugs to remedy that problem.

I had similar experience once I fainted..I could see everything but I was unable to move any part of my body or talk ..I was just sitting in a dark hole of my brain and observing!
That happen to me cos of strong smell allergy...you might have something similar when your body basically do not respond to your mind! Check yourself for any food or smell intolerance or even detergent intolerance...as something coz the blockage of spirit commands to the body.

You need to c a doc. dear, because it's all about nerves. A medicine for a short while will be of great help, but i urge u to stay away from stress and try to rest during the day.
