I was raised baptist, and was told my whole life that mormons were not christians. At age 22, I started investigating the LDS church, and what I found was that when I converted, I only had to abandon about 5-10% of the belief system I was raised with and it was all periphery details, not the core of the baptist religion. My brother still tells me that mormons are not christian, but he says that because that is what his church tells him, he does not actually know what the mormons believe.
I have since left the LDS church, and I am no longer christian. But I understand your frustration. People are quick to make judgements about something they know little about. It's just like any other prejudice. Honestly, having lived both religions- mormonism and baptist- the LDS doctrine has fewer holes and more answers. If I was going to live either one of the two, it would be mormonism. However, my experience as a mormon has not been a positive one. The mormon doctrine is more loving and accepting than the baptist doctrine, but the members are just as judgemental and small-minded (at least, here in Utah).

ther reasons you would have trouble finding biblical Christians recognizing MOrmons is
1) In LDS Mormonism the God of the earth had a begining, was a mormon from another planet who became 'god of this world' and married a mrs God The Mormon God is not the Biblical god
In contrast the Biblical God says 'I am God and there is NO OTHER I know of none." Isaiah While it is true that not everyone becomes a god in LDS Mormonism, it remains very true couples married in a temple are claimed to be on a path to Godhood.
2) LDS claim that Jesus and Satan were the oldest two children of god and Mrs god, but Biblically Jesus is the only begotten and the creator, a far different category from the created angel Lucifer Through the gosepel people may be adopted and made God's children in a special way...yet Mormans make even Satan a child of God unbibilcally making the Biblical adoptions meanignless
3) It remains true that Mormons reject the sciptures of the New and Old Testament and all churches as currupt since their doctrines are incompattible with them. it is rather odd to appeal to Christians from 'corrupt' denominations with a 'corrupt' Bible to accept them... wouldnt it be??? The only reason would be to try and dishonestly claim to be Christians like everyone else and to get people guard down so they accept a false gospel
4) Mormonism has a occultic origin
On the other hand since the Bible is reliable... one has to question why should Christians trust Joseph Smith as he was using occulting methods of divinging for treasure withdivining stones when he came upon a spirit preaching a different gospel and a different Christ. If someone is doing something forbidden by Moses commend sense would be to not accept them as a prophet of God
Some Mormans have tries to defend Joseph Smith;s occultic practices claiming Joseph in the Bible was a 'diviner' from Genesis...but this is not the case from the text. Joseph planted the cup in his brothers donkey supplies and then knowing it was there found it... and razzle dazzeled them claiming he found it cuz he was a diviner... to take em for a ride for a while forwhat they did and to see what was intheir hearts....
sadly Mormons know well that Joseph Smith was an occultist
but do not realize they may be followign treachings inspired by an occultic spirit not from God as they have rejected the gospel of the spirit of God for another

Even the demons believe in Jesus Christ and they shudder! Galatians tells us that if we add or take away ANYTHING from the gospel, we are following a false gospel. I urge you to take a deeper look at what the Mormon church teaches. Compare it to the Bible (not the one the Mormon church uses...the Christian Bible). They have similarities, but plenty has been added to and taken away from the gospel...making it a false gospel. Keep in the forefron to f your mind that God NEVER gives revelations to any ONE person without backing it up in His word. We cannot believe the other cults that have lined up behind other humans, be very careful. There is so much more to Christianity than believing in God and Jesus. I worry when someone is not grounded in the Bible and studying it FOR THEMSELVES! Christians or otherwise. Believe NOTHING from the pulpit until you have studied the infallable, inerrant Word of God for yourself.

sure. provided which you're defining a Christian or a Mormon as somebody who does the choose of the daddy. If one is a Mormon yet would not do the choose of the daddy, than they are no longer Christian, and vica verca. If somebody (rather) does the choose of the daddy, they are going to, whilst they right here with reference to the restored gospel, connect the Church, and grow to be a mormon (member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints), in the event that they have not accomplished so already, regardless of if in this existence or the subsequent. So, in a feeling, all who've a broken heart and a contrite sprit and positioned away the organic guy, would be delivered approximately the certainty via the Sprit of God, and could in time grow to be a Mormon as you place it. a genuine Christian will ultimately be delivered approximately the Mormon church, the place they are in a position to recieve ordiances throughout the time of the flexibility of God, which has in basic terms been approved via servents in his Church. The Lord loves you all.

The Mormons have their own sacred text called th "Book of Mormon". It was said to be found by Joesph Smith and and translated by an angel. After it was translated the angel took off with the original. As a Christian, I have a big problem with its authenticity, but the Mormons use it as a basis for many of their teachings.

No. You're not Christians. To be a Christian you must also believe in 3 persons in 1 God, not 3 persons in 3 gods. That is what mormons teach.
please read the articles on mormonism.

I can't speak for all christians, but for me personally, I know that mormons are christians and that they hold Jesus in high regard, however I am confused about the whole book of mormon thing, since the last book of the bible states that we should not ADD TO or take away anything from that book of prophecies.
Isn't the book of mormon considered adding to them?

Okay. But they're still a cult that follows a false prophet and a false gospel, or way to heaven. They have a zeal for God, but it is not according to knowledge, it is according to a lying man who claimed to be a prophet of God when the Bible says in Luke 16:16 that the last true prophet of God was John the Baptist.

Christan's believe that Christ was born of a virgin and that he died and has risen from the grave and is at the right hand of god. Mormons believe the teaching of Joesph smith and they use the bible in a secondary manner.
