God is the only true comfort I have found that is not based on a false sense of security. And what is wrong with have him be my security? He can offer me far more as my king than I could offer myself.

It depends what "God" is to you. check out the site www.isaiahsix.com and SteelRoots. You can decide whether to become a Christian or not. It is not forced upon us like other religions such as, Muslim. The Lord offers us freewill. That's the beauty of Christianity. You get to choose which place you would rather spend eternity in-- Heaven or Hell. God's Son (that is, Jesus Christ) died on the cross for your sins. He GAVE UP His life so that we would HAVE life. Isn't that just totally incredible????!!!! It says that If anyone calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. The Creator of the universe wants to have a relationship with us! He wants to be our friend. How cool is that?! He has an awesome plan for your life. He knows the amount of hairs on your head.

Dear lady s,
ALL of mankind has disobeyed the law of God. The Bible calls this sin. Because man has transgressed the law, he is guilty and the penalty for breaking the law is eternal damnation (hell). God in His great mercy and lovingkindness determined to have some of these sinners to be His children. However, because God is perfectly just and holy, He could not let them into heaven before the penalty of sin was paid. Again, God in His great mercy took the form of a man and became the substitute or sin-bearer for those He inteded to save from the wrath of God. Jesus Christ endured the equivalent of speanding eternity in hell in the hours from the Garden of Gethsemanae to when He said, "It is finished" on the cross. The incomprehensible suffering and torment of eternal damnation was compressed and placed upon the Lord Jesus. Jesus is the only Savior. That is why if Jesus has not payed for your sins then you must pay for them yourself.
From everything that we read in the Bible to this point, it appears that 2011 will be the year of Christ's return and the end of the world.

Isn't everyone looking for love--whether from God or people? There may be difficult times in people's lives when they need a "comfort blanket." During those times, God is there to give that comfort. But during the times when they are strong, these same Christians can bring comfort to others, through the comfort that they themselves have received from God.
Unfortunately, it is true that many people are miserable before they come to Christ, because they aren't willing to seek Him until they become desperate and have nowhere else to turn. But just the same, He is there for them, waiting to meet their need.

Religion is what is man-made.
Being that an attribute of God is comforter, He brings perfect comfort to His children.
People who do know Jesus are happier, our eternity is secure and we know this broken world is not permanent. That is not to say that we don't have troubles, worries, etc. We are comforted in the fact that we will be with Jesus in Heaven where there is no brokenness, only peace in all things.

I am a Muslim revert, having converted from judaism and raised by a catholic step-mother. With that said, I think that there is absolutely comfort in worshipping God. It is a natural outcome of faith and worship. That is, I think if one is convinced of his/her belief. I was not as a Jew but I am now as a Muslim. My faith gives me absolute comfort in the fact that I am convinced that Islam is the religion for humanity. Perhaps others feel this way about their belief. I should say though that this does not apply to Jews because jews do not invite non-jews to Judaism as it is believed that it is passed via the maternal blood line.
I don't believe faith is a crutch. A crutch is usually a temporary device until one can stand on his own two feet. Faith is a foundation leading one to stand firmly in the face of adversity, struggles, etc. It is not just for the 'hard times' if one believes that God is the Sustainer and Provider of all things, then this leads to happiness and gratitude in all times.

No,after know God,mens understand that they have body and soul, and begin to learn to take care of their soul too.
Begin to reconaized the sins and change the order of the differents values in their life.Believe that Jesus is the First alive after the death and understant that our soul has an eternal life.To be an Christian, meens to understand my cross(each men have a cross in their life),to accept it is silence with the Power of God.Throw my cross,my wrong part of my character can be transformated in good ,is hard, but necesary, that isn't an confortable-blanket.

Being raised in the church, I would have to say that God is a comfort zone - having given his son, Jesus, to save the world from sin. He is the father of us all, having created us, so we must show our thanks by simply following the righteous way. I recognize that those that have been born again do acknowledge Jesus as that saving power but the three are one (God, the father, God the son, and God the holy ghost). But interesting question you raised because as I've gotten older, my appreciation for God has increased though it is through Jesus that we are saved. Hmmmm....the holy trinity at work. :)

How about placebo? and while your at it, help explain the petroglyphs and art of the prehistoric humans. God has always been a part of life even if it was an animal spirit and such.
Some fear or supreme respect to a 'spirit"
