Well, 1 Tim 3:15 says, "The church of the living God is the pillar and foundation of truth."

" I am The Way, The TRUTH, and The Life; no man can come to the Father except through me". -- Jesus Christ

That is, in a sense, a bit like asking "Is there one, or more than one answer"? The response to that would be "to what question"? Well, besides there being more than one right answer to a lot of questions, the key issue is that there IS more than one question - zillions of them.- and so too, are there a zillion Truths. As a matter of fact "truth" is an abstract word that describes what one, or a group of people happen to believe about a particular issue. There was once a time when a great many people believed the earth was flat and that the sun revolved around it. This was the prevailing "truth" of the time. Of course today we know that it doesn't really matter how many people happen to hold something to be true, it can still turn out to be quite wrong. Time can pass, and new discoveries made that make it necessary for us to alter our thinking and acknowledge a completely new truth. We must do this, because if we do not, we cannot move forward. It can be pretty traumatic to suddenly have to face a new truth. Many can embrace it with little problem while many others are overwhelmed, and can never embrace it at all. People have a certain life span, die, and are replaced by others, and if that didn't happen, there is no doubt in my mind that humanity would stagnate and mentally putrify, as stagnant water in a pond into which no fresh water is able to ever flow. For all that I try myself, to embrace new thoughts and new ideas, and new ways, there are still a lot of things that I have long become comfortable with, and the older I get the less willing I am to let go of them. They are what I know, and they have become comfortable to me. But I know that Humanity HAS to keep updating itself and individuals have to find the courage to accept new truths, as they become enlightened to them. and embrace philosophical truth, that is. (Practical truth is something that you have to demonstrate evidence of before it can be classified as true) So really, this "Truth" that we speak of can only be something from within each of us.

The bible couldn't possibly hold the one truth since it is chock-full of contradictions. If this sounds like "Truth" to you, then I feel sorry for you:

Jeremiah 2:30 In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.

Exodus 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name

Exodus 11:5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
11:6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
11:7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel

As for one or more truths, I'd say it depends on what you mean. Is it true that the sky is blue? Well, it's true for human beings that are not color blind. Is it true that the earth goes around the sun? We can provisionally say that this is truth, but we allow for new evidence that may prove otherwise. I'd say just about every "truth" is or will eventually be determined by science.

There is one truth but there are many paths. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the light. No man comes to the Father but by me." Jesus was not a path. He was the way. This statement He made differentiates Him from all the other religions of the world. He is not a religion. He is the way, the truth, and the light.

He is also called the Word in the book of John. It says, "in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God, in Him was life and the life was the light of men. And the light shined in the darkness and the darkness comprehended it not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not. But to as many as received Him, He gave the power to become the sons of God."

Only one Truth -- Reality is what it is. But it has NOTHING to do with ANY of the religions or teachings that we have. The best ANY of them can do is to point to the truth which must be experienced directly. Everything else is just belief and perceptions. And if we take these beliefs as truth then we waste our lives by not getting to the real deal.

No, I think there is 1 Universal Truth and there are countless interpretations of it. Nothing upholds this truth, it upholds itself. It is true whether we believe it or know it or not.

Peace!
