Cream Cheese is a very soft spreadable cheese. Sour cream is just that, cream that has been soured. They can be used in many of the same dishes ( using cream cheese in place of sour cream) but usually that is for calorie counting. Plain yogurt is also a substitute for sour cream. Hope this helps.
