Maiden Mother and Crone are the 3 stages of womanhood. Crone does not mean menopause, it just means that she has graduated from the Mother stage (as she is not longer raising children) and is now in the final stage - that of wisdom and a sort of community guide and elder.

Peace!

back in that day any one who acted strange in any way were treated as witches. women had difficult times with menopause even back then and some women would almost lose their minds because they didnt have drug therapy for the symptons like we have today.so if you acted in any way other than what they thought were normal then you were considered a witch.even people who were mentally ill were burned at the stake.rye bread back then when it was made after a certain time would grow a mold and they would scrape it off not knowing that it would cause halucinations. for this cause the were put to death as a witch. if they did this in our day today then we would be in big trouble. there alot of strange people out there.

Many Wiccans believe the three phases of woman reflect the triple goddess - Maiden-Mother-Crone.

Crone is generally defined as an old woman.

A crone is a woman who is aged and generally perceived as wise. But as we all know, wisdom does not necessarily come with age. Sometimes age comes alone.
