Well I am 14 years old and I had a tooth out about 3 years ago. Firstly the dentist made my infected area numb. I didn't get any type of gas. It didn't hurt me abit. You will be knocked out so you wont feel a thing!! Don't worry about it!

OK, if by "gas" you mean Nitrous Oxide, then you won't TECHnically be "knocked out." Nitrous is not the same as general anesthesia (where you are unconscious entirely) or IV Sedation (where you may be slightly conscious but not remember anything). Nitrous is an "anxiolytic" which means you basically still feel what you'd normally feel, you just don't CARE as much. This is nice, and well worth the money.

As far as having an extraction, the injection is a pinch and after that all you feel is PRESSURE. without stronger sedation (IV or gen'l) you WILL feel pressure, which may be uncomfortable but not, strictly speaking, painful. If this is disturbing, the nitrous alleviates that.

Now, when you say filling, I'm assuming you're at a general dentist, and general dentists don't USUALLY do more than just nitrous. Some do.

good luck!

I just got 4 teeth out;; 2 at a time! Believe me;; you really dont notice anything. I was all worked up over basically nothing.
The steps are:

1) You will get numb.

2) The dentist will use an intrument and push hard on the teeth (all you feel is pressure)

3) The dentist takes another instrument and rocks the tooth back and forth;; then it pops out! You hear the roots coming out and then you wont even know that its out! Easy as that!

All you feel is the pressure when the dentist pushes up on the teeth. You hear the roots coming out but all it is is 'snap, crackle., and pop!' (thats what my dentist said lol hes so cool)

But yeah as for filling....I have no idea. I have never had a cavity or needed a filling in my life. Lol.

GOOD LUCK<3

You will feel nothing when it happens if you have a good dental surgeon. I have just had two teeth out, but not at the same time. The most surprising thing is that sometimes they ask you to pull from your end away from the tooth they are trying to get out - but it doesn't hurt it is just a surprise. That was also under local anaesthetic. It might be sore afterwards - you come round or the anaesthetic wears off - but if you take ibruferen just before that happens for a day you will not feel it.
It is not as bad as it at first seems. I hope that you get a good surgeon, I have only ever had good ones.
If you can avoid dentists.

You are sooooooooo lucky that your guna be knocked out!!! I had 2 out when I was around 14-15 and all I had was a few injections, BUT it didn't hurt, it just feels uncomfy because you can feel them yankin it out... You'll be fine, you wont feel a thing, just remember to not go out in the cold after coz if you get a chill in it, it will hurt, so keep warm and go home and rest :)

.........I've had two out when I was about 9, but I only got injections - it makes your face really numb and feel huge, which is quite funny cos you cant eat - but i never felt a thing really. I don't know what it's like with the gas but i'd imagine pretty much the same. You'll be fine!!

If your dentist is any good, you shouldn't feel ant discomfort at all.
I can't give any comments on being given Gas,as i have only had local anaesthetic.

If you are being put to sleep then you wont feel a thing! You may be very drowsy and sore when you wake up but whilst they ar doing the procedure the feeling is zero! Just happy dreams! xxx
