i'm taking an anti-depressant, effexor, and all i seem to do is sleep. I work nights, so i don't go to bed until like 4am, but i sleep until like 2:30pm, and i work again at 3:30pm. I seem to do this every day. Would the anti-depressants make me constantly sleep like this, every day? Any help?

You may want to consider two things:
1.getting a job that would better accomodate your sleeping habits
2. talking to your doctor and consider switching to a different brand of anti-depressants.

Perhaps your body isnt having a reaction to the drugs at all and you just need sleep. The body's way of repairing itself is through sleep so maybe theres more going on with your body than meets the eye.

If you haven't been taking the medication for very long, you may still be a bit depressed. I think it takes a while for it to "kick in". You should call the prescribing doctor for advice.

I heard certain antidepressants cause hypersomnia, ask the doctor who prescribed the medicine to you.
