My german shepard is my faithful and loyal friend and protector, he keeps a close watch on me. I am not only his rescuer (he was abused and ended up at the Humane Society in need of extensive surgeries from his lack of care and abuse by previous owners), but I am also his honory left ear scratcher (3 legged wonder he is)...he is a handsome boy...Hope you can talk him into it!!!

I have three dogs and wouldn't be without them. There is nothing better than when you have had a sh*t day going home and being greeted by your faithful friends and their wagging tails. They just love you and don't judge you. But you must talk to your husband about why he doesn't want one, not everybody is a dog lover. I am fortunate as I already had two dogs when I met my hubby so it was love me love my dogs and I managed to persuade him to let me have another. Good on you for wanting to get one from rescue kennels instead of getting a pup from a breeder.

Good luck I hope you manage to persuade him :)

take him to a dog rescue and ask them if you can take one to exercize for a couple of hours and let him see what fun a dog is. But remember taking on a dog is for a long time and they do need looking after you cant just put them away in a cupboard and take them out when you feel like it they are like children that stay children all their lives but they give you unconditional love and until I got my first dog nearlly 14 years ago I didnt realize how much you come to love them. I have 4 grown up children and 8 grandchildren. But when my little chihuahua died in september I was brokenhearted, I have just got my second little puppy and I wouldnt be without a do now.

my dog means everything to me
hes a two and a half year old border terrier and comes with all the fun tenacity and personality that terriers are blessed with
he loves to play ball and enjoys going for a walk and we run him ragged cause he loves it so much
you are never alone when you have a dog and he keeps me company all day long
he goes everywhere with us and is as good as gold he doesnt chew the car or destoy anything at home
because of him we decided not to have a holiday this year and save to buy a motor home so that we can get his rabies vacicination done and then we can all go on holidays next year to europe i couldnt bare to go away without him again
i didnt realise the devotion unconditional love and the enthusiasm a dog could have for his owners
there is simply bo substitute for that wagging tail when he sees you and he couldnt express his love better even if he could speak
a dog doesnt have an agenda like human beings and he will never let you down
just remember that they do need someone to keep them company during the day and its like having a child you both really need to want one otherwise it wont be a happy home and your loyal diggy will soon pick up on that
good luck with your hubby and if he decides he wants one i hope that your new addition will give you as much joy as ours has

My husband didn't want a dog but I went out and bought ours anyway, 10 years on and he loves him as much as me and the kids do. I am lucky enough to have an easy going and placid man. You really have to talk this one out before you commit to getting a dog, do your research as to how to look after one properly, show him that dogs can be great and not destructive if trained properly, but don't tell him about the smelly farts, the mud they bring in and all the attention from visitors that will be on the dog and not your husband :D

I think that´s a great idea, dose your husband work long hours,? meaning you are alone most of the day. They make good company, Maybe your husband might feel left out if you get a dog, dose he give a good reason for not wanting a dog. When he ask´s you what you want for Christmas, you have the perfect answer, good luck

I love my dogs. I have had one faithful dog for 7 years. She is a mutt, half Cocker Spaniel half something, And is a little messy cuz of her fur but is a wonderful family dog. She follows me on long walks, keeps away intruders, sleeps at the foot of my bed, and is always faithful. Dogs are a great idea in my personal view.

Take your hubby to the dog rescue centre let him take a look, it may bring him around. I got around my wife with a candle lit dinner and a bunch of roses. I got my dog, a Springer Spaniel he is now 8 she loves him to bits. We also got a second dog last years a beagle hmm somwhat a handful but she is fun.

We saved our dog from destruction. She was abandoned and most likely abused. She is very timid but getting better. She's faithful, excited to see us, and loves trips to the park and walks around the block. Dogs are a huge responsibility, but the rewards are worth it if you have the time to give them. As long as you're willing to walk them regularly and spend time with them, I think he'll love a new dog.

My puppy is my best friend. No matter what kind of day that I had at work, she is always there, excited to see me and to cheer me up. Why doesnt your husband want one? I am sure one the main problems is house breaking. Do some research on crate training. We got my puppy at 8 weeks, we crate trained her, we've had her for about 3 months and she's only had 4 accidents in the house, so its pretty successful. Good luck!
