Yes, I am from Kentucky, I do not care if one or two teeth are missing, I am also afraid of the dentist, and the Internet. Many people regardless of where they live are in economically depressed areas. Some parts of Kentucky are severely economically depressed where the ability to have food for a person's family is an issue, which would be greater than oral hygiene.
This group is definitely not the majority, I personally have all of my teeth (although my wisdom teeth were removed). George Clooney, Johnny Depp, and Ashley Judd are all from Kentucky and I believe they all have their teeth as well.
As far as casinodog's comment you have misspelled their, your sentence should read:
They don't look after their teeth.

Some families do not have any health-care and because many in the rural areas are uneducated are afraid to go see the Dr. at the free clinic. Some churches send missionaries to some some of these areas due to the fact that many areas are SO poor.

Poor self care (not brushing teeth or flossing) as well as in a place dominated by people "in the sticks" little or no dental care coverage. Lifestyle may be a reason as well, or even something as little as not caring if a tooth or two are missing.

Because there are less jobs in rural areas and therefore folks have no money for dentistry, and they certainly don't have health benefits. It's expensive to take care of your teeth, especially if you have any problems at all, which most people will as they age.

Its cheaper to pull them then to fix them.or was it because they pick their teeth with wagon wheel's.
Just because some people are poor and don't have insurance doesn't make them uneducated. hard times fall on millions of people.
I'm from Mo. And I don't know of anywhere a less fortunate person can get dental help , unless they are in prison ....A shame huh?

THERE ARE LOTS OF STATES WHERE PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE ALL THERE TEETH!!!!!
MOST PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE DENTAL INSURANCE AND HAVE OTHER BILLS TO PAY BEFORE THE CAN GO TO THE DENTIST.
WE SHOULD NOT MAKE FUN OF PEOPLE FOR THERE MIS-FORTUNES
