Although I am sure that Jesus was not looking forward to the physical pain and humiliation that was coming, it was not what He feared the most.
I think what Jesus wanted to avoid most was separation from His Father. You see, the wages of sin is death or separation from GOD and to pay the price for our sin, this had to happen to Jesus too. He did not want it for even a moment.
Yet He did pay this price but it was not the nails that held Jesus to the cross, It was love. Love of us because Jesus could have called thousands of angles to destroy the world and set Him free. I think He had to tell them to "stand fast" ...do not move.
Ray.,,,,Jesus loves YOU my friend...

i'm not sure those were His exact words, but while He was in the Garden, at Gethsemane, He was permitted to glance at the death He was about to endure. this episode is frequently referred to as THE AGONY IN THE GARDEN. Jesus pleaded with His Father to "take this cup away." Jesus knew the intensity of the suffering He would soon face to save mankind from sin.

Jesus suffered terribly , by being beaten and ridiculed before he was put upon the cross. His last words were: Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they do !! Go to view the movie called the Crucifixtion. You will see how brutal it was.

Yes he did. He prayed in the garden of Gethsemane, and he was very afraid of the crucifixin. He was here on earth in form of a man dying for our sins.He experienced everything that man experiences. Read verses Matt:26: 36-41 on this link, and you will see how grieved he was.

He not only knew that it would hurt, he went forward anyway...though He could have stopped it all with a word!
That is why you must understand, to refuse that Lord is to send yourself to hell in the next world.
If people laugh or don't believe it, it doesn't change the fact of the matter.

Yeah, so much so that he prayed in the garden that "nevertheless not my will but thine be done"
He knew the suffering and he chose to die for YOU anyway.
