At the time of the Nicean Council, there were basically hundreds of Christian sects with hundreds of differing Gospels. The council was created to unify Christian theology and belief in order to prevent conflict. The church fathers who met decided on the Gospels that we're all familiar with now as they were the most common amongst the varying sects. The Gospels of Thomas, Judas, Mary, Phillip, etc were discarded because the texts didn't represent the majority of Christianity at the time. This doesn't mean that there's not any value to them.

Early Christians did not believe the Gospel of Thomas to be a valid Gospel. interior the early days of the Church, there have been many gospels written with the aid of adversaries of Christianity (Gnosticism, Montanism) that attempted to discredit the instructions of Christ. lots of what substitute into written in those books contradicted valid writings.....The Gospel of Thomas being a style of. The Council of Nicea did not reject books of the Bible. It substitute right into a council to pick maximum perfect on the question that were raised approximately Christ's equality with God the daddy. St Thomas is not the author of the "Gospel of Thomas" The Thomas Christians were called so because they traced their faith back to St Thomas who is believed to have been martyred in India, not to the "Gospel of Thomas" which refer to the author as "didymos Judas thomas" as the author. (The word "didymos" is Greek for twin and the word "thomas" is Aramaic for twin. It appears the author's name was Judas, and his nickname was "the twin" (set forth in two languages). )
BOY, YOU ARE CONFUSED.
Most of the language in Thomas is BIZZARE AND ABSURD: “Lucky is the lion that the human will eat, so that the lion becomes human. And foul is the human that the lion will eat, and the lion still will become human” (Thomas 7). Most of it also is Gnostic in flavor, especially verses like: “Damn the flesh that depends on the soul. Damn the soul that depends on the flesh” (Thomas 112). And some sayings are just plain wrong: “No matter where you are you are to go to James the Just, for whose sake heaven and earth came into being” (Thomas 12).
In the gospel of Judas, much of the discussion revolves around the creation of the material world, which involves an entirely foreign system of demi-gods and angels. Here’s an excerpt: "The multitude of these immortals is called the cosmos—that is, perdition—by the Father and the seventy two luminaries who are with the Self-Generated and his seventy two aeons. In him the first human appeared with his incorruptible powers….and look, from the cloud there appeared an [angel] whose face flashed with fire and whose appearance was defiled with blood. His name was Nebo…others call him Yaldabaoth. Another angel, Saklas, also came from the cloud. So Nebo created six angels—as well as Saklas—to be assistants….” No, I didn't make this up.

First, remember the bible itself did not fall from the sky. Adam was not the first man. READ your bible. It is the STORY of Adam due to Jesus is a direct decendent. OK, remember also, the bible, as many times as it has been re-written, was written by men. Commissioned around 340 ad by an Egyptian...yes Egyptian ruler whom also ruled over Italy and rome, Who were Pegans as we know them. there was such conflict between Jesus's teachings and the Pegans Constantine could not keep peace. So he commissioned the collection of all of the writings of Jesus.
At that time...let me fill you in....they did not run on the Cesar clander but the Julian one...10 months in a year...no leap year. (That is background to start) Thomas better known at that time as Didymos Judias Thomas suposidly wrote. (OK who was Judias? betrayer. We'll start thereThis could take forever to explain)
Scientifically, some things can be explained...documentation can explain some and natural beings others. As with Thomas, anyone can toss even grass seed upon the wind. Birds shall gather some, worms may gather some but some will survive as do squid or jelly fish. Scientific laws of nature.
Constintine wanted to elevate Jesus to a GOD not a man. The simple man with brothers and sisters he was (Oh yeah why have we never heard of them?) Constintine neededto control his people not divide them. To appease the Christians he collected writings of Jesus. However not all were collected. The bible was written kind of like a Star Wars affair.
Understand way before Jesus, there were celebrations in the month you know as December...Decombre meaning Deca....theth month...not 12th. Easter...why is it on a solsist not a regular day? Because it co-insides with spring. (This is going to be rough.) Thomas suposidly wrote about whay Jesus "Said". Which were actually included in the bible you just have not recognized them yet. Most are in the bible now just "reworded". Jesus needed to be elevated to a GOD. And they did that. There are no writings, antique or other that state Jesus said he was the son of the One God. Constintene did that. Moses was a profit. Noah was a profit, Mohamid was a profit. There were seven in all to represent the seven churches....also, to represent the 7 pegan gods. Kind of weird isn't it. Also, most Americian Indians believed the same in different ways. Thomas's writings were not included as Thomas's but as other's to enhance what was written, then enhanced to be unbelievable to elevate the stature. Jesus was a man not a GOD. God never told me differently nor anyone I've ever known differently. If I should see god thru Jesus, why do I speak to God now without Jesus? Jesus may have died for my sins. Many conviced criminals last wish is to die for the sins of man thinking this will save them. Not the first or the most original concept even then. Does that make a murder a savior? No unless we once again re-write the bible. Know where your religion is based, who actually wrote it, where your source is....but most of all, know there is one true God no matter what name you call him/her/it. Believe nothing else..the 10 commandmants are remarkably the same as the rules for kindergarden! No where in the 10 commandments does it say...my son will be coming only thru him shall you find me. If it does....even the dead sea scrolls don't say that.
your biggest advasary here are the churches. Money hungry groups. Believe what is in your heart. God will guid you and get the heck away from whom they TOLD you Jesus was.
Celebrate with Christ...GOD

It's a gnostic book and it wasn't written by Thomas, it was written long after Thomas died. Gnostic books were omitted from the bible because they weren't written soon enough after the crucifiction, and they hold really whacko beliefs.
What I'd like to know is why the book of Enoch got ommitted, since it was written before the new testament and isn't the least gnostic. Apparently, they didn't like all the angelic stuff, it showed that angels are not what we seem to think they are.

The Council of Nicea make up a whole new religion-what they liked, and what they didn't.
People would not think that Jesus was G-d if this meeting had not occurred. Really, the whole Council was a sham-----to find ways to get more power over the Christians.

Exactly -- all the interpretations that didn't support the popular stories of magical miracles and eternal life for the psychological self were discarded. And they were then actively dismissed by those who were granted the formal title of 'theologian' and by the powers-that-be. What people have been worshipping and believing for 2000 years is literally the opposite of Jesus' message.

And your question is . . . why is the gospel of St. Thomas considered false?
Because it contradicts sound doctrine and is just plain silly.
(Jesus had to sell him? . . . c'mon)
