LCD is a cheaper technology than plasma
LCD have some drawbacks like:
it loses if quality and light if face direct sunlight
if a picture remains for long ( like channel logo) it leaves a ghostly image
due to use of liquid crystals for producing images, fast moving images move leaving ghost like images which is a drawback for its picture quality
its contrast ratio is also less better than plasma
plasma is available in very large screen sizes.
similarly plasma has the following shortcomings:
it is costlier
it is bulkier, in case you think of hanging it on the wall you have to make sure the fittings are able to bear its weight.
LCD has anti glare, matty screen
both are the technologies which are here to stay and are improving day by day
#All above facts are quoted by well known websites as per the gadgets guru's opinions.

I believe lcd has less glare, but plasma has some other benefit I can't recall. But I am solid on the glare thing.
