my year old schanzer has had an excessive thirst for the past few days. She is eating and acting normal except for this constant thirst. This happen a few months ago and she stopped after a day or so, but this has been going on for several days.

ask about kidney failure or diabetes.

Diabete's causes excessive thirst, excessive urination, and excessive eating. Is she diabetic?

YOUR DOG COULD HAVE DIABETES.
OUR DOG IS HAVING KIDNEY PROBLEMS AND DRINKS AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF WATER
HAVE YOUR VET DO SOME BLOOD WORK THEY ALSO DID AN ULTRA SOUND AND CHECKED HIS LIVER ,BLADDER SPLEEN,KIDNEYS

i agree with your answere so far, dog may be diabetic so need to check with your vet
