lol - contrary to some of the answers so far, it is see Naples and die. It is not a joke. It is because once you have seen the beauty of that area you can die a happy man. It is absolutely beautiful and the coast to the south of Naples is everything you imagine it to be. Highly recommended area of the world and very beautiful in a shabby chic sort of way. Maybe not everyones cup of coffee (or bowl of pasta!) but most definitely mine. The Island of Capri just off the coast to the south of Naples, almost opposite Sorrento is absolutely awe inspiring.

Return time and again and you still will not see it all, this is exactly what can happen to you if spent your vacation in Florence; with hotelbye you will discover out more. Remarkably small as it is, that riverside town looms big on the world's'must-sees'list. Cradle of the Renaissance and of tourist people that group here to feast on world-class artwork, Florence is really a magnetic, romantic and active city. The Piazzale Michelangelo (The Michelangelo Square) is one of the areas you have to see in Florence. That square is a large, partly pedestrian zed square found across the Arno River from the hub of Florence. From the square visitors have a magnificent see over the city. The ample square was presented in 1860 by Giuseppe Poggi, a local architect who is also noted for his creation of boulevards round the centre of Florence. Found at the middle of the city's principal market region, the Basilica di San Lorenzo is one of the oldest churches of Florence and was the burial place of all primary people of the Medici family. Don't delay! Florence and their superb pieces await your visit!

Venice (Venezia) really wants no introduction, see how to get there with hotelbye . That city has been a fabled location for centuries. Only the title Venice is enough to conjure up a host of pictures, also for individuals who have not even collection base in Italy. From gondoliers in striped jerseys to the Rialto and the Bridge of Sighs, criminal balls, wonderful barges, courtesans in gondolas and failing palaces facing streets made of water Venice is an incredible city. When the sole connection throughout the Grand Canal, Rialto Bridge marks the location of the island's first settlement, called Rivus Altus and is now one of the a lot of place that Venice needs to offer.

Vedi Napoli e poi muori is the real expression. See Naples and Die. However, it is properly translated to mean See Naples then you can die. I know this because Im backpacking there in December and I came across this expression EVERYWHERE I researched. How can you say its See Rome and Die. Rome has enough sayings (IE when in Rome...), this one is all the way napoli. I hope this was helpful. If you see Florence, youll probably be taken by it but all vital signs should be in good shape. Enjoy

No,it's not true. It's not Florence,but Naples.
In Italian we say : "vedi Napoli e poi muori"and this surely means : SEE NAPLES AND (THEN) DIE and in a few words this means that "you are allowed to die only if you've seen Naples before" or even better "You can't die without seeing Naples".

The saying is see ROME and die! However, I heard that Florence is the nicest place in the world. Hope to know someday.
Everyone is saying it's Naples and they'd be a lot more knowledgable than I am. So, go with them. We must have gotten it wrong.

No... it's "vedi Napoli e poi Muori" ( see Naples and die).
That's because for the napoletani Napoli was the most beautiful city....and the last thing that everyone had to do is see Naples before die.
