The manuscripts had to pass seven tests to be included in the bible. I'm sorry but I don't know off hand what they were. If a manuscript did not pass one of the seven tests, it was not included.

Canon is usually decided by a committee of whoever is most powerful, politically and within the political structure of that religion, at that time. This is usually after a period of sudden growth OR restructuring (Christianity being made the state religion of the Roman Empire, Judaism after the destruction of the 2nd temple).

Whenever it occurs, the majority of texts are demoted to heresy. Read up on ecclesiastical history -- it's fascinating, and a bit scary, in terms of the political manuverings. Fundies and Evangelicals might like to say that their chosen texts are the truth, but basic linguistics and a bit of historical knowledge makes it clear that they're wrong. Canon is ALWAYS man-made.

It is also theorized that Mary Magdelene was a very close friend of Jesus and she wrote a book with direct quotes from Jesus himself that should have been included but were discarded because women in that day and age were not of value and it was unheard of for a woman to submit such a book.

The Nicene Council was appointed by Constantine in 325 A.D. to standardize the beliefs and teachings of Christianity. Those who determined canon at that time were also politically powerful. It is my belief that their decisions were not only religiously motivated but politically. There were many books which didn't make the cut into the current canon.

Jesua came, told people what they did NOT want to hear, and they crucified both him and his message and made it into what they wanted to hear. And for the last 2000 years, they;ve been believing in something that is the total opposite of Jesus' original message. And to make sure that the other interpretations were pushed down, the church's theologians and formal groups branded them as heretical and actively sought in some cases to kill those with an alternate interpretation. This same dynamic occurs today (albeit, in christian societies, the killing of the 'heretics' is not allowed).

god recorded in his word many incidents with peter and john and others. but he knew that the records of the accounts are so many that we would not have enough books to fit them all so he made provision for some that would benefit our lives and when we get to heaven i believe that we will learn more of what was not recorded in the bible.

The Pagan Emperor Constantine.

He was the one who had final say and chose those 4 since they were the 4 gospels most likely to meld his empire into the one official religion Christianity. The others probably had too much non conformity in them.

Don't be foolish enough to believe that DaVinci Code deception...

The Bible foretold nonsense like that:

"for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine...but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers telling them what they WANT to hear...." (2Tim.4:2)

" Now the Spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, speaking lies in hypocrisy..."(1Tim.4:1)

"...But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." (II Tim. 3:12)

Those other "gospels" were written by the gnostics, not the disciples who's names they bore.

lets see those two were wrote long after they died right...I would say the four gospels we go by now are very similar so my guess is they walked with Jesus...anyways you have questions ask Jesus himself I am sure He will show you..
