it sounds like it might be carpol tunnel syndrome, my dad was having all those symptoms he had to go to the hospital to have a simple test where they placed electrodes on his fingers and sent a wave through his fingers it showed he had that problem and had to have a minor operation where they cut his hand and removed some of the trapped cartlidge under his palm, its ok now for him but it does sound like you have those identical symptoms i hope this helps

Carpal tunnel syndrome. If you have not tried the following yet, maybe you should:
1. Invest in ergonomic computer desk, keyboard and mouse.
2. Do not use the mouse that's built into laptops - they are notorious for causing the syndrome
3. Try a wireless mouse and keyboard
4. Take frequent breaks from typing
5. massage from the wrist to the elbow, your fingers and palms
6. Exercise both arms - stretch them above the head, extend behind the back, clasp wrist and pull backward
7. Do not spend so much time on Y!A - lol .

Carpul Tunnel...I know that is the incorrect spelling.
But pins feeling in the hands is a first symptom.
How far up the arms are the shooting pains?
Is is bilateral (both arms the same?) When does it happen?
Any recent trama?
Could re nerve damage, but that would be unusual for both arms at the same time.
How old? Any recent vacinations or shots?

I have a similar sensation. I lay down and my hands go numb and when i try to move them on other ocassions i get shooting pains up and down my arms. I went to a chiropractor who diagnosed this as carpal tunnel syndrome. You'll most likely be prescribed a brace to wear on your wrists to prevent your arm from moving around so much therefore reducing the pain.

Sounds very much like carpal tunnel syndrome, but do not rule out repetitive strain injury from using things like keyboards. Seek medical advice - treatment is available for both types of symptoms. Try not to aggravate symptoms, rest if you can. Hope this helps.

That is lack of oxygenated blood in your arm,it might be a blockage.About the hand closing involuntary,i don't think it is a problem.Sometimes i get a electric shock up my neck too, causing my neck to twitch.I think if that problem worsens, you will have to see a doctor. But play safe,go for a checkup,it might be not as simple as it looks
