Whenever I stroke my cat (1yr old) down the bottom of her back she always turns around and cleans it, she doesnt cry or anything but just cleans herself. I only stroke her head now. But why does she do this?

Even though they love us, cats don't like to smell like anything other than themselves. She is cleaning your scent off of herself.

Maybe before you stroke your cat wash your hands with plain water, maybe you have perfume or soap that she doesn't like the smell off. I have a cat that has a nervous tick and he won't stop licking the tops of his paws. One other thing try a pet brush on your cat maybe she's shedding and lickin off loose hairs. Good luck

Cats are so silly! When I pet my kitty she will lick me and herself at the same time. I think she just feels something "loving" and is showing her affection by licking where you have petted. I wouldn't worry about it, keep petting her!

s/h maybe doesnt like it and maybe u have to keep ya hands clen at all times, think about it, would t\y ou want someone with grose hands touching it/ maybe it does like u or trust u

She's odd.
My cat doesn't like her butt touched. If we scratch her or pet her at the base of her tail on her back, she bites us.

it is cuz u tickle her, and she feels there is something on hr, it is just a reflex, when someone fiddles a tissue around ur ear, conscious or unconscious, u will push watever is there with out thought That is WAt happening with ur cat
