I am not sure if I really do have it but it seems to me like I have the symptoms for it. I remember back to when I was about 4 or 5, I'd sit and watch my mom mop or vacuum the floor, and I had thoughts to myself that if she'd miss a spot, she would die. I'd get really uncomfortable if she'd miss a spot and it would bug me. I still get these things and have for as long as I can remember. For example, if I dont tap on the frames on the wall next next to my staircase before going up, something terrible will happen. I know it makes no sense but I have to do it no matter what. Another is when I was walking at school and there was a certain spot on the ground I just HAD to step on or I'd get uncomfortable, I didn't want to do it because I thought people would look at me weird. Theres a lot of other things too that I do throughout the day but it varies. Is this OCD?

This could very well be an OCD, many people have OCD and don't even know it. It's nothing to worry about as long as it doesn't control your life. If someone asks you why you tap the frames... tell them it's just a habit or a silly superstition.
I have an OCD with a couple of things like folding clothes. If the corners aren't just right - I'll re-fold it again, and again until it's right. It's no big deal, I just have the neatest drawers in town! ; )
I also (and this one is a little weird...) need to 'eat evenly' if I chew food on one side of my mouth, the next bite will be chewed on the opposite side of my mouth. The good thing about this one is that NO ONE ever notices that one! I told my hubby about it - he thinks I'm a nut - but a cute nut!

Obsessive-compulsive disease is characterized by the two obsessions or compulsions: Obsessions as defined by: Recurrent and protracted techniques, impulses, or photos that are experienced, at a while throughout the time of the disturbance, as intrusive and irrelevant and that reason marked stress or misery The techniques, impulses, or photos are no longer merely extreme concerns approximately authentic-existence issues the guy tries to forget approximately or suppress such techniques, impulses, or photos, or to neutralize them with another theory or action the guy recognizes that the obsessional techniques, impulses, or photos are a fabricated from his or her own techniques (no longer imposed from without as in theory insertion) Compulsions as defined by: Repetitive behaviors (e.g., hand washing, ordering, checking) or psychological acts (e.g., praying, counting, repeating words silently) that the guy feels pushed to accomplish in accordance with an obsession, or in accordance to policies which would be utilized rigidly The behaviors or psychological acts are aimed in the direction of combating or reducing misery or combating some dreaded adventure or subject; although, those behaviors or psychological acts the two are no longer related in a life like way with what they are designed to neutralize or avert or are patently extreme --- AND: --- quicker or later throughout the time of the process the disease, the person has known that the obsessions or compulsions are extreme or unreasonable (no longer proper to infants). If yet another disease is cutting-edge, the content cloth of the obsessions or compulsions isn't constrained to it. OCD is pervasive and affects a lot of a person's life - to the point where they can't function normally because they're so caught up in their rituals and compulsions. You might have some tendencies, but if it's not upsetting your life it's probably not full-blown OCD. If you do have OCD, there are medications (like Zoloft, Paxil) that can help a lot.

The most important question is how much it bothers you and others. If it's just "these silly things I do sometimes, how funny to notice," then no, it's not OCD. But if it's interfering with your life--if you get VERY UPSET if you can't perform these behaviors, or if they're keeping you from holding a job or doing well in school--then it might be OCD and you should go to a doctor.

Why don't you go to your doctor and discuss it with him/her. I know there are treatments that are very effective for this sort of thing.
