If it is a nice red bordeaux, it should keep for at least a few days, even without putting it in the refidgerator. I do the same as you, open about 1 bottle a week and drink a glass or 2 every night. Some of the older wines will even last a bit longer, I know some of my friends will open an older vintage like an '82 and decant it for drinking the 'next' day, just so it has a chance to aerate and 'open up'. Eveyone has their own opinion and different wines will oxidize at a different rate, but generally speaking a nice red will last for several days up to a week without spoiling, even at room temperature.

When you first open a bottle of wine, air is your friend for the first 24 hrs. Then it starts to be your enemy. A robust red can be at it's best after being open 24 hrs. But it's all downhill from there. I have tried everything. Multiple vacuum contraptions (3rd best answer, 4 days), inert gas (2nd best answer, 6 days), move to a smaller bottle (glass only) (best answer, 2 months). No space in the container results in best way to store opened wine. I have run this test many times.

The key here is to prevent oxidation by eliminating as much as possible contact between the wine and oxygen. You can do that by spraying inert gas into the bottle to displace oxygen (available at wine stores) or by transferring the leftover wine to a smaller bottle such as a clean plastic pop bottle. That should prolong the life of the wine. Alternatively, you could always freeze the wine for future use in cooking. Depending on alcohol content and the temperature of your freezer, it may or may not freeze solid.
