Female dogs have a menstrual cycle every 6 months, not every month like humans. Are you sure that you have not lost track of her cycle. I'm sure if she hadn't had a period for almost year, a baby would have been born by now. If you want to breed her, you should do it properly by picking out a mate of the same breed or get her spayed. It still is possible either way for her to be pregs, you should take her to a vet to double check

First off, these people are right, dogs don't have periods as we people do. second of all it would be hard to tell if she is strickly an outside dog. Finally, i actually do understand your question and concern. I have a lab who will be a year old next month. She just came into her first heat cycle 2 weeks ago. Until then then I was wondering too what was wrong with her.

Dogs do not have menstrual periods! What the heck are you talking about?
If you mean you dog has not had an estrus cycle or "heat", then she probably got out and found a mate.
Shame on you for NOT having her spayed while she was still a puppy.
It is not too late for her to be spayed. The procedure is called a hysterotomy. This is where the pup fetuses/embroys are taken along with the reproductive organ. It will cost a bit more, but you will not have mixed breed mutts to adopt out or take to the shelter.
Get your dog spayed NOW!

Well there is one way to find out. Be a responsible pet owner and take the dog in to a vet and have a test done. Then might I suggest that you have her spayed.

do you keep her outside or is she an inside dog? if she is an outside down is she fenced in or anything? they are correct, dogs have their period every 6 months, i know when my dogs is because her "pee pee" thing gets swollen and bigger than normal, and shes a small terrier and stays inside, she also sleeps on my bed, so i would see a small blood dropping on my sheets or if she sits on ur carpet or something u can see it. but if shes outside, it would be difficult to tell. i would bring her to the vet to consult someone about it, if u have any questions feel free to ask. I dont think anythings wrong with her tho if shes an outside dog, altho she does have a high risk of getting pregnant. good luck

there are a few dogs who have "silent" heats. Get your dog to the vet to be spayed before she accidentally gets pregnant!

It is definitely possible. Has she been exposed to any males lately? If so, then I would consider getting her checked out by a vet.
