You want to have kids learn something. Where do we draw the line? Should we teach them every single theory out there, no matter how many times it's been proven to be completely wrong? Forget evolution and creation, let's bring Lysenkoism back! It was a big hit with Stalin. Or maybe we should make sure to teach kids that the Earth is round, or it could be flat, according to some people - either answer is fine on a test.
Free exchange of ideas and questioning well-established theory is for grad students, not middle-schoolers. They're confused enough as it is without people lying to them on top of everything.

Evolution is science. The US Supreme Court has ruled that "Scientic" Creationism isn't science. Creationism is just a bunch of garbage bundled up for political purposes. Science is taught in schools and is an important basis for understanding biological diversity. Creationism is inflexible dogma taught in churches. It's not about free thought. It's about critical reasoning.

Good and while you are at it please follow thru on your beliefs and have german taught in math class. Also scientists should be required to have time in church and religion class too right? I mean if religion can go where it has no right to be then I would assume you want science to go where it has no right.
NO ONE has ever said creationism does not belong in religion and philosophy class. But it does NOT belong in public science class.
It is banned from classroom because IT IS NOT SCIENCE. I could give a frickin muffin recipe and demand they teach it as the beginning of the universe but as it IS NOT SCIENCE it HAS NO PLACE in science class.
Everytime I hear this I die a little inside and my thought that all humanity should be wiped from existence gets more proof it is correct. I mean this generation has pissed all over the idea of free thought and the difference between personal belief and proven science

People who believe in evolution think that creationism is fantasy and does not belong in schools. People who believe in intelligent design think that evolution is the fairy tale.
Evolution is almost a religion to some. Humanism, the idea that humankind is in control, embraces evolution. Humanism is a form of religion.
We have all be taught that evolution is scientific fact; however, the more it is studied, the more holes in the theory are found. More and more scientists, even those who do not profess to believe in a higher power, are backing away from evolution. But, it is still taught as fact in school.
As long as evolution is taught as a theory - emphasis theory - I have no problem with it being taught it school. But if it is taught, equal time should be granted to other ideas like intelligent design.
I know, I'll have a lot of people saying I just don't get science or I'm stupid or misled, it doesn't bother me. I have studied evolution, probably more than most who profess to believe it, and I am totally convinced its a lot of poppycock.

One guy writes, creation is not science. Well, I got news for you, science requires quite a bit of faith!! Evolution is not proven fact. They don't have the missing link...though they always show us some baloney little trinket that is supposed to appease doubters. There are insufficient fossil transition records to concretely prove evolution. Evolution is just another faith. Bottom line is this: Satan, their daddy, is afraid of it in the schools. They may laugh at this, but it doesn't make me wrong!

You are correct. Another thing that really bugs me is the banning of voodoo.
Teachers are now forbidden to promote voodoo in the public schools, and this is an outrage.

I agree with you 100%. They are allowed to teach a theory that so far has just proved adaptation within a species. Maybe if they called it adaptation instead of evolution I would be ok with it. All theories should be presented to allow for a reasonable, educated decision.

in all fairness both sides of the coin should be taught. even thought i think evolution will always be a theory and never proven as fact, it should be taught along with creationism.or divine desig..or whatever they are calling it now.
