It's my boyfriends 23rd birthday this week and I would like to make him a nice dinner.

He LOVES meat, potatoes, cheese & rice, but is really picky with everything else.

Please NO peppers, onions, tomatoes, or weird sauces.

Does anyone have any RECIPES? I'm a good cook so complex recipes are fine with me!

Thank you :)

P.S. Please do not tell me to take him to a restaurant he likes or to buy a pre-packaged meal, I'm looking for recipes :)

obviously you want to cook something nice, but sometimes its all about the way in which you eat it and the surroundings that you are in. so take into account the nakedness and the surroundings.
also something that you can share rather than individual plated dishes for eahc other, for example you could do like a greek meze, just lots of small dishes of seafood, dips and bread, then a little later grill some meat, not too much though as u always want room for dessert. or maybe something like chateaubriand, which if you didnt know is the end of the fillet of beef but you could have it on a big serving plate with all your roasted root vegetables and potatoes and help your selves to it, served with a bernaise sauce(hollandaise with the addition of tarragon, and tarragon vinegar if you have it when making the reduction for the hollandaise).
tempura prawns are always a hit, when making a batter use cornflour, sesame seeds and a little thai red curry paste and soda water and you'll find the prawns come out amazing.

off the top of my head thats it for now, got to get back to ork, i got food on the stove

Birthday Dinner Ideas For Him

2016-10-31 12:24:39 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

How about just something simple. Men love steaks on the grill and baked potatoes. Is he weird about salads and say corn on the cob to have with it. I have a great Chicken Cilantro recipe, but it has tomatoes, peppers, and onions so that is out. Nice thought on your part and I hope it turns out to be a great birthday for him.

P.S. I had a friend once who was cooking for her boyfriend and when he showed up she was wearing nothing but the apron!!! Opps, got off the subject, you didn't ask what you should wear cause that could be a problem, you might never get to having dinner then!!

Ok, let's see. A nice sirloin would be good (you probably know how to make that, but my husband puts curry powder on his and fries it in a little sesame oil)

How about a twice baked potato? Scoop out the inside of a baked potato and blend with some sour cream and/or cream cheese, top with cheddar and bacon?

A green salad with a balsamic vinaigrette. That's 3 Tbsp balsamic, 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice, 1 spoonful minced garlic, a good drizzle of honey, salt and pepper, and 1/2 cup of olive oil. Whisk or shake that up, serve over greens and sprinkle with feta.

Long grain and wild rice pilaf? Use the boxed mix but use chicken broth for the water and add frozen peas towards the end.

Or steamed asparagus (or string beans) with hollandaise. Whisk 3 egg yolks with 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice. Heat over low to med-low with 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter (cut into chips). When that butter melts, add each of the remaining 4 Tbsp butter one at a time whisking until each one melts before adding another.

That's it from the top of my head right now.

Well, of course this depends on the extent to which you want to customize the dinner and your knowledge of flavor profiling. But, given the above, ever consider doing a flank steak stuffed with a blue cheese stuffing, mushroom risotto, a simple veggie and a bottle of intense wine such as a Barolo, Zinfandel, Petite Syrah, or Bordeaux?

A tasty and easy mushroom risotto is at:

Just remember to load up on the spices a bit more.

The flank steak is simply a pounded flank steak that's been brushed with a light amount of orange juice, stuffing is bread crumbs, croutons, blue cheese, black pepper, lemon juice, and (optional) fine chopped (canned/jarred) artichoke hearts. Rolled, tied with string, browned in a hot pan on all sides, placed into a 400 degree oven for about 20 mins.

Super easy and tasty. Best of luck in the kitchen !!!

If you can't afford it or just don't want to pay for whatever reason, just ask him. He's your boyfriend so it should not be hard to ask him how he feels about it. It is his birthday though, so if it is in your budget at least offer to pay when the bill comes. Since he invited, he should pay for it BUT it would be nice if you did or at least offered. Those kind of gestures don't go unnoticed.
