The medical community considers all of these things as diseases, but personally i think it is a bunch of b.s.
People have control over their actions, and many people do hide behind the "disease" belief.

I am a former anorexic. It is a psychological
"disease" or problem if you will. Once you start losing weight you feel good about yourself and you get positive feedback from other people that makes you want to keep going and going etc. After a certain point you are obsessed with being thin to a point that it over powers any need to be healthy

I believe they all are addictions. I think that addiction is a form of mental illness and thus a disease. If impulses are truely beyond ones control it is an illness. In the case of eating disorders it seems the persons perception of themself is far removed from reality and thar too would be a mental illness or disease.

Yes, I would say these are diseases of the mind not the body. They destroy the body but it all starts in the mind. These people need mental help not just getting thru withdrawal. Also I personally think that rehab for these diseases needs to be min.. one year.

All i can think of of is that previous Nineteen Sixties song by Loretta Lynn - do no longer come domicile a-drinkin' with lovin' on your innovations. BQ - I artwork with a guy in his 50s who has advance into painfully addicted to cyber web porn. he's in that section the place he hates what he does yet that compulsion to behave out is overpowering. he's married and has a candy, respectable dating along with his spouse....an rather high quality female...yet they have drifted aside. He appears like they're brother and sister as a substitute of a husband and spouse. The shame and confusion became too lots for him until the fateful Saturday afternoon I took him fishing and he thoroughly unfold out. "How am i able to break a 40-5-years-previous habit?" dependancy can quickly advance right into a painfully lonely element in a individual's existence. The dependancy makes them experience as though no person is familiar with their warfare. it may even lead its sufferer to melancholy and pitch him over the part.

yes to all of your questions. Diseases can be of the mind as well as physiological. Any of these conditions can cause deformity and death. To the first answer which is a cruel, misunderstanding screed is unfair to you and the people who suffer from these conditions. Why the mind acts to allow us to harm ourselves is a little known phenomena. People should not be so judge mental about things they don't understand.

I understand how alcoholism could be considered a disease, since it can be inherited through one's family history. I'm sot so sure about the other conditions, as they seem more emotional or mental.

No, they're lazy swine excuses. All should be allowed to die of their weaknesses. It thins the herd and allows the species to become stronger to repel the alien hordes when they attack.
