I am doing a science fair project on cupcakes. If any of you are food critics or bakers, I need to do some backround research on how a density of a cupcake might affect i's usefulness or poularity.

Is a cupcake healthier when it is denser or less dense?

Going on the assumption that a heavier cupcake has more fat (butter or oil) in it, then a lighter one is probably better. I don't know if that's true or not, but I know for sure that the lighter the cupcake, the yummier it is!! I just made a batch of cupcakes yesterday believe it or not, and they were so light they almost floated off the plate. I got a ton of compliments based just on that fact!

The density can range from that of a rock to that of a Sponge with a lot of holes in it. You don't want to drop the first one on your foot. That would be unhealthy. You can't wash the car or take a bath with the second one. It would fall apart.

A cupcake about halfway between those two extremes would be about right.
