Sir J is correct, you need to either buy the precut table top pieces that Home Depot does carry, or go to a glass company. They are the only ones who can cut the safety glass, which is what is required for glass table tops. If you are just getting glass for tops of nightstands, etc, then regular glass would likely work, but still safety glass is safer--plus the glass company can polish and bevel the edges, glass cut by a lumber company will have straight, razor sharp edges.

We've done this several times including getting some round ones but we have always gone to a local glass supplier. These type of folks usually can cut just about any size or shape you want and at a very reasonable price.
They can also grind or grind and polish the edges for a finished look.
Look in your yellow pages and give one a call.

According to their website ( http://www.homedepot.com ) the only glass table tops they offer are presized.
