it detects your brainwaves. when u r lying, your brainwaves trigger more and when you r not lying, it stays steady. however, they aren't always correct

It tracks the levels of stress when you are asked a question. Some questions are will make your heart rate higher more stress. Thats why it is hooked to parts that have a heart beat
The person can also see the reaction on your face if they are good at giving the test.
Not reliable because some people can control heart beat by relaxing.
Others can take drugs (Valium etc) to help them relax

I actually had one before. They will put these things on your fingers and on your chest. When you lie, your heart rate goes up but you sweat more and have more glitches in your body so you have to stay extremely still. Your instructor will ask you various questions like your name,etc to get your average heart rate when you are telling the truth.Your body goes through several physical changes when you are lying.

It checks for pulse and heart rate. If you are a normal person when you lie your heart pounds a little harder and your pulse raises. You also sweat a little and you get nervous. Some people can lie so good that they dont even realize that they are lying themselves.
