Ok so for the past few months i have had this obsession w/sticking qtips in my ear and digging around! i do it every day for 10-15 minutes because my ears are so itchy and i go so deep in that its beginning to effect my hearing and everytime after i do it my ears are clogged for a day or so and this sticky clear liquid oozes out for about 24 hrs or so. It has honestly become an obsession and i cant stop. i feel like it relieves stress but i knoiw i cant keep doing this to my ear because it is causing damage. please dont tell me to go to the doctor, as i dont have insurance right now. basically, i just wanted to know if anyone else has had the same situation and what that liquid is that is continuously draining from my ear?

Hi Kim

Here are some ideas to clean out your ears.

Herbal Aids
1.Garlic: Earache, inflammation of the middle ear, ear disease: Pack a small clove of garlic in gauze and place into the external ear passage; or drop 4-5 drops of oil into the ear channel, cover with flannel, and keep warm.

2.Rue: Warm and place several drops of compound oil into the ear.

3.Mullein: Use warm mullein oil, 2-3 drops in the ear 2-3 times daily. Apple cider vinegar is also a healing agent.

4.Hops: Apply a flannel bag of hops, and moist heat over the affected area.

5.Treat Both Ears: The simple, old-fashioned aids are sometimes very fast in giving relief. Always treat both ears, even if only one aches.

6.Onion: Lightly bake a large onion, cut it in half and while warm (not hot enough to irritate the area), bind one half of the onion over each ear. Bandage in place and hold bandage on with a nightcap, white skullcap, etc., and leave on all night.

7.Camomile: Use a fomentation over both ears of three parts of camomile and one part of lobelia. Take two ounces orally (a wineglass full) each two waking hours. Leave the fomentation on the ears all night. (Cover fomentation with plastic or oiled silk, etc.).

8.Mullein: Use three to six drops of mullein oil in both ears several times each day. Insert it upon retiring for the night, and, as before, plug the ears with cotton. Place a fomentation over the ears all night of three parts mullein and one part lobelia.

9.Dr. Christopher's B & B Tincture: When this procedure is used as explained here, it can be an aid in assisting an improvement of poor equilibrium, failure of hearing, aiding the motor nerve, etc. With an eye dropper insert into each ear at night four to six drops of oil of garlic and four to six drops of the following herb tincture: blue cohosh, black cohosh, blue vervain, skullcap, and lobelia, plugging ears overnight with cotton, six days a week, four to six months, or as needed. On the seventh day, flush ears with a small ear syringe using warm apple cider vinegar and distilled water half and half.

10.Flaxseed Meal and Blue Vervain: Made into a poultice with flaxseed meal, using a strong infusion of Blue Vervain instead of plain hot water, it relieves ... earache and ear abscess as well.

Testimonials
1.Garlic: When my little girl had an earache I put a piece of fresh garlic in her ear and it was better by morning. The previous alternative was to go to the doctor and pay a lot of money for penicillin.

Best of health to you

Anything coming out of your ear other than wax is not good. By using q-tips you risk pushing wax farther into your ears and it can become impacted and difficult to remove. Try this instead. Buy a rubber-bulb syringe and squirt clean warm water into each ear about four times, once or twice a day, letting it drain out. Don't put the tube too far into your ear - it shouldn't hurt when you do this. Then, before you go to bed, put a few drops of baby oil onto a clean ball of cotton and place it into your ear, just far enough in so that it stays there. If you keep getting the discharge, you should see a doctor pronto!

Itchy ears are caused by allergies. I know its maddening try to find some OTC allergy meds and see if that stops the itching. If it does not after a couple of days go to a hospital and tell them what you have been doing they will check your ears!

yes my ears sometimes feel itchy and need to clean them, however you are going way past extreme. you have more than likely damaged you eardrums and probably have caused repeated ear infections. that is probably where the drainage is coming from. Have not found a solution to itchy ears though, sorry.

for a start let me say that you should never poke around in your ears, with anything ever,
which makes the sale of cotton buds lunacy,
your ears will be itching because of the movement of wax inside your tubes, this can be accompanied with strange sounds, squeeks, gurgling the ears naturaly clean themselves and the residue would drain whilst we sleep sometimes they run,wax dribbles out after bathing, the warm water melts the wax to a runny state then you can put a cottonwool ball in to soak up residue. put a few drops of warm olive oil in each ear at nighttime then bung with cw,b. this will clean your ears au natural.
gently massage neck to sooth itch,

you should NEVER put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear, ever.I cant stress how much damage you are doing not only to your ears but also maybe to your brain, this is one way to introduce infection into your brain,so stop now, also you will end up perforating your ear drums and becoming permanantly deaf

You have probably broken your eardrum. Go seek professional help paid by your state. This could cause deafness!
